I don't like to look at baked reflections on the throttle and all of the switches at the overhead. These might be ok for you but they are not ok for me especially for a $82 product. Also the panel textures with baked shadows and pixellation when you get closer is a huge immersion breaker in VR. Also look closely when turning the HDG, SPEED, COURSE knobs the image becomes blurry and there's quite a bit of ghosting, side effects of porting animations from another sim Edited May 2, 20224 yr by the_simpilot

Obviously that means nothing to a lot of people, but for those who have spent good money on the plane already, know that you'll be getting new features and updates 1, 5, 10 years down the line. Your money isn't just being spent on Ferrari's and steak dinners by the devs. I don't care how developers spend the money they get from our purchases. 40 series graphics cards are around the corner and I can't even think of where VR headsets will be 5 years from now. The advancement in graphical technology and PC hardware is pushing the limits and I assume VR gaming will be big in next 5 years. Hopefully some of those new features and updates will address these issues as well. The current 3D model and texture quality is ok, not great but in 2 years with improving hardware and graphics capabilities it might not measure up if not updated. That's my personal opinion. May 2, 20224 yr I've never owned the FSX/P3D version of this addon but after flying it all weekend my preliminary reaction is I feel like I'm flying an FSX plane inside MSFS. I look out the window and I see the beauty that is MSFS. I look back in the cockpit and I'm flying in FSX. The way the click spots work, how the knobs and switches move, how the cockpit door opens and closes, the baked on texturing, the lackluster EFB just all seem to take me back in time. It is a feeling that is hard for me to explain as I haven't flown FSX for many years and haven't flown P3D for several years. Modeling and textures wise the Rotate is in Major Leagues and the Maddog is in Single A. But the Rotate's systems are not as bad in relation to its modeling and textures as the Maddogs modeling and textures are in relation to its systems. The sounds are really bad. There is just no feeling of immersivness...no squeaks, rattles, etc. Exterior sounds are worse than default planes. I'm not mad I bought it at this price but I am on the fence as far as regretting the purchase since I'm a systems guy in the end so if a sound pack comes out for it then I think it would be worth it. Performance wise it's fine for me using the Ultra preset, 5800X and 3080ti. Ryan
May 2, 20224 yr If I were Leonardo, I would reimburse each of you squealing about how unacceptable texture quality is with a Captain Sim frankenproduct. Really, that you guys have access to the best (bar none) rendition of an MD-80 and all you do is whine about the textures just speaks volumes of how good the product is in terms of systems fidelity. Sounds could be better, but then again, the engines are basically inaudible in the cockpit which is really noisy with all the aircraft systems. For some of us who've been in the jumpseat in the real aircraft, the default sound experience is good. I'm sure both TSS and Immersive Sounds will port their P3D products to MSFS in due time, for those of you willing to stick with the Maddog and want to complement the experience (yes, complement, not fix). I hope Leonardo is better than you when it comes to customer service. I reserve all rights to comment on what I think is not on par with asking price. You can keep paying premium price to anything that's ported to MSFS with no model and texture improvements. I fly in VR and these things are deal breakers for me. Besides I said there's room for improvement I don't recall saying unacceptable in my posts at least. Edited May 2, 20224 yr by the_simpilot

Two sectors EGSS to EDDF and LIRF to LEPA I was wondering if your opinion was based on screenshots or actual in game. I fly in 8k and do not have immersion killing issue with any textures. Then how come I can hear the APU as if it's right behind the cockpit? I can get the subjectivity of graphics, but the defense of the 20-year old, rehashed sounds blows my mind.

I don't own P3D therefore, I don't know how it was in VR in P3D. Ghosting in animations, baked in reflections look just bad in VR. They seem ok in 2D screen with 2K resolution. Not great but ok however in VR it's just looks bad.

Please calm down and step away for a while to cool off. Give Leonardo a credit for creating the airplane for us. If you think $75 euro is too expensive, you had a chance to look at the videos, screenshots before you buy it. Why did you buy it in the first place? I really enjoyed flying this jet so much and I am not too worried about texture quality at this time. I think it looks great where it is. We didn’t have any airliners in the simulator before this. I’m sure it’ll improve over the time. Relax and enjoy your flight on MD-80 dude. Brian Pogorek

May 2, 20224 yr Wow, the comments about the textures. I don't own the Maddog, but I have watched plenty of streams, videos, and seen the photos of it. IMO, the textures are not Fenix level. But if Fenix is 10/10 for textures, I would put the Maddog around 8/10 for textures? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
