Gave AIG Another Try

OMG!

It's exactly what it was when I  first tried it and the server went down. The TC worked perfectly, but most importantly with the live feature it really shined.

On a quick flight from TJSJ to TNCM I heard plenty of ATC chatter from Caribbean airlines and even saw a AA depart right after I landed at TNCM.

Thanks to @Kaiii3and the entire team for an outstanding AI Traffic add-on.

It’s hellish to set up for VATSIM, but just about worth the sweat, blood and tears 😁 No question though, it is really superb.

How much has your simulator start time changed since using AIG has to longer loading times now I would assume

yep, once you start adding dozens of airlines to AIG, the start time for the sim grows significantly because it takes a long time to index every single aircraft that's installed, including AI. hopefully Asobo can take a look at improving that some day, as i have around 'only' around 50 airlines installed currently and even with my 9900k + 32gb + nvme ssds, MSFS takes around 3 minutes to load (very roughly speaking... i haven't actually timed it, but it's long enough that i need to tab out and post on a forum or grab a drink or something 😛 )

Well my experience is to do the manager/controller get my airlines/flight plans and then not run anything just use live traffic in the sim. I see plenty of ai with correct liveries so i am happy.

yeah that works pretty well. the problem IMO is 1) very little parked traffic to start with 2) the sim injects the ugly generic airliners in place of anything that we don't have a model for yet. and if you use the "ground aircraft" slider, it just adds aircraft willy nilly without regard to what airline spawns where.

Yeah i dont use ground aircraft slider at all, taxes my system. And tbh i have not seen any generics, and as long as i see traffic moving about i'm all good 🙂

I have tried loading it various times but the 255 character error keeps killing it for me

Then move it to somewhere closer to the root of your drive as it suggests.

Correct!

I have every flightplan/model/paint for AIG (plus usually about 200-400GB of mods activated at a time) and startup is around 5m.30s which also includes rebuilding the Content.xml and scenery indexes every time new addons are swapped in.    I just fire it up then go and make a cuppa and annoy you lot on here for a bit while it loads. 😉

I've gone from using their built in schedules back to just using it with live traffic as after SU9 it was causing a performance hit that it hadn't previously.  I've been more than happy with that tbh, as whilst it isn't as packed at the stands I don't really mind, the performance gained back is worth it. There's also so much more traffic in the air now compared to last year.  I enjoy getting the drone cam out at an airport, firing up FlightAware and just traffic spotting at times.

Thanks to all involved in the project. Couldn't fly without it.

Not that much. Compared to Simple Traffic it added about an additional minute and that's with over 200 FPs.

Having said that, if I run the TC at KDFW at a 100% it does affects fps. At 50% it runs great. However, after using the live setting, I'll never go back to using the TC.

I log into simbrief and create my flight plan. By the time I'm done, I'm already in the MSFS menu ready to load the FP. 😀

My default start time is roughly 1 minute 35 seconds with no traffic at all. With approx 900 Airlines installed from AIG, the load time has gone to 2 minutes and 8 seconds. It's a drop in the bucket if you ask me considering what it delivers. Almost 6000 liveries using 220 different current and real world AI models (and still growing).
