Problem with resizing images from FSLTL for FPS saving

1. Download and install XnView MP - backup your original FSLTL base folder

2. Load XnViewMP and go to Tools > Batch Convert

3. Point to your FSLTL base/airplanes folder. Remove any images that are equal or smaller than the size you are resizing to. Remove images that do not have square dimensions i.e.are not 4096x4096 or 2048x2048 by sorting the Properties column. If information does not exist, compare the file sizes

4. On the Actions tab, Add Action > Resize

5. On the Actions tab, Presets - custom, Mode = Fit, Width & Height = 1024 (or 2048), Keep Ratio = tick. Unlick the others.

6. Output, Folder = blank, Filename = blank, If output file already exists = Replace, untick everything else, Format = Save as original.

7. Hit Convert

8 Wait! 🙂

9. I then used Ordenador (you may need to register on website to download) across the same folder, without changing any settings. I am not sure if this step is necessary or if the settings are correct, so someone else will need to advise.

10. Load MSFS ensuring that your folder with your new images is called SimObjects and not SimObjects - copy or something else!

**Please do not share your FSLTL base folder with other users, as these instructions are only for your own use and it would breach copyright of the original product.

Where did you download Ordenador?

I got it from Nuxusmods but cannot get it too run

A few years ago I wrote an app to handle texture conversion of all sorts of files for Prepar3D AI traffic.  The other day I came across this thread and have updated the app I wrote to support MSFS AI

  • If I can figure out a way to optimise these textures easily with a batch command with free software, I'll share it here for everyone to follow..

  • Hi All, I've just published a new version (1.3) of my Texture Optimizer tool.  This version addresses several issues in 1.2 and adds a bunch of new optional parameters that allow you to fine-tune

Yes I got it from there. It comes in a zipped file, so you have to extract the folder first. Then you should be able to run Ordenador.exe

I am having issues with dll files missing.

I am trying to resolve this on a VM first before I mess around with my main windows.

OK fixed the dll issues and now Ordenador opens. Will try to give this a go shortly

Thanks for this.
When you say "without changing any settings" in Ordenador, do you have the Mipmaps checkbox selected and 'make if not mipmaps' in the dropdown?

@chickster25 Could you please post a screenshot from XNViewMp of your edited textures? I followed your guide but the conversion process destroyed most of the textures unfortunately

I am not able to add images here as I dont have an account for image uploads elsewhere.

I am just doing another test with 2048 images, so will see if that was successful too.

Just tried using Ordenador and still bad textures

They have said they have no intention to provide 2048x2048 textures but that they will resize the 8k ones..

I have followed the process for 2048 x 2048 images and loaded into MSFS without any issues so far.

Folder comes in at 5.84GB and FPS is about 3-4 lower on my system vs 1024 images.

It will automatically resize all .dds textures in a folder/sub-folders and you can specify any conversions, mip-mapping, compression and resizing as well.

Edit: Just tried it and it works fine. Will take a while but well worth it if it's a significant performance increase. 2048x is enough for AI planes.

Did you manage to reduce any 8K textures with Ordenador? I use it very frequently

And Ordenador does not reduce .PNG.DDS for some reason just .DDS, be aware.

SN737

Ordenador is only used to add mip maps after the down scaling. Uncheckall setting except  the mip maps option. There is no need to convert twice. The resizing and compression conversation is done using Xnview. Mp.
