I wonder if it's caused by the converted textures. I suppose the acid test would be to go back to the original textures to see if the shadow problem pre existed. Alternatively, someone still using the original textures could check.

October 7, 20223 yr Author I can confirm that some of the shadows on the original liveries display incorrectly too, with one of them being none other than.... Easyjet!! This will be one for the FSLTL team Phew! 👱♂️
October 7, 20223 yr On my previous post, the screenshot was taken with stock unedited textures, so it is an error with the stock model and/or texture and not a result of the conversion process. It only happens on the 'troublesome' liveries mentioned yesterday, which I suspect is due to them being saved and/or formatted incorrectly. Good that it isn't cause by converting the textures. Hope they fix it. October 7, 20223 yr The shadow issue has been mentioned on their Discord and they said 'they are aware of it'. I have raised a ticket on their Discord with more information which has been closed with the response - 54Lewis [admin]: known issue, fix on its way soon. October 8, 20223 yr Here is complete guide with screenshots, how to resize textures to have more stability, smoothness and better fps in MSFS2020: https://drive.google.com /file/d/1GgTBv667zz-qyEj13FSOe4vaqMyT1K5Z/view?usp=sharing Guide is made by me, with help of RJC68, toby23 and chickster25 from AVSIM forums. This guide was made in discord group named live traffic modifications. What is my goal? Just make existing Ai traffic solutions better with some modifications. I dont share copyright protected material but i am providing instructions to do those modifications. For example this texture rezising method is making msfs2020 more stable, smoother and with better fps. For me it did gave me +15% better fps with rezising all the textures to 1K. My future plans are wide open. I personally have ideas and I would love to have more users to join my LTM discord to discuss these ideas and help me to make them happen. My next project is making native GA aircraft models to be used in MSFS with offline traffic, with FSLTL injector (beta atm) and with real time online. I need only couple of models to be made, because we can duplicate those used with different icao designators. Third project will be trying to hassle with .cfg´s (aircraft.cfg, engines.cfg, flight_model.cfg etc). I currently can make ai aircraft´s braking to be less effective by disabling reverse thrust. That is example i did discover over one year ago. There is lots of parameters from fsx/p3d era we can try. But this project is launching after SU11 where should be updates to AI traffic engine. Are you intressed to join us in Discord? Send me personal message, so i will give you invite link to it. Edited October 8, 20223 yr by Corsten
October 8, 20223 yr A few years ago I wrote an app to handle texture conversion of all sorts of files for Prepar3D AI traffic. The other day I came across this thread and have updated the app I wrote to support MSFS AI models/packages as well. The link below will take you to an installation and user guide for it. It directly addresses many of the challenges described in this thread. A few features: Optimizes textures to the size you specify, allowing you to balance quality and performance of AI textures. Supports any and all versions of Prepar3D and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Works with add-on third-party AI packages such as AIG and FSLTL. Creates a fully separate optimized directory, leaving the original files un-touched. Properly handles various input formats such as BMP and DDS, optimizing to DXT1/3/5 textures with and without mipmaps. Corrects odd artifacts with alpha/transparency channels and improper flipping of DDS textures in original texture files that result in funny looking AI when textures are processed with other tools. To the last point - You will find in working with textures across a bunch of different AI model creators that the textures come in all shapes and sizes, with all different levels of mipmaps, alpha, transparency, compression, etc. The artifacts earlier in this thread are a result of these differences when batch-processing images. I created this tool specifically to solve this issue in P3D, and it works great in MSFS. I've checked against some of the troublesome textures earlier in this thread and so far, it seems to work. I have successfully converted the entire FSLTL package, and AIG with about 100 airlines in it. FSLTL goes from 21.0GB installed down to 13.8GB at 2048 resolution textures. There's some other "undocumented" features embedded in it, such as texture conversion from source (like DXT3 to DXT5) as well as forced creation of mipmaps for DXT1/3 files without them. If some of you give this tool a try and have feedback, I'll look at some updates that are useful to the community. https://izn-flightsim.s3.amazonaws.com/textureoptimizer.html

October 9, 20223 yr This is great @MammyJammy thanks for sharing. Forgive my ignorance but why is that when I converted the textures (2K) using Xnview and then mip mapped them, the resulting installation size is 6.97GB. Yours is 13.8 GB. Where does this discrepancy come from?
October 9, 20223 yr Useful tool @MammyJammy, however it seems to miss some textures, leaving them at 4096. For example, "FSLTL_A20N_ANA\TEXTURE.ANA\FAIB_A320_PW_T.png.dds" does not convert, but "FSLTL_A20N_AMU\texture.AMU\FAIB_A320_PW_T.png.dds" does. Dave Garwood.
