IniBuilds Los Angeles - Bad Performance

Interesting note about road traffic, perhaps I should try it as well.

PS. RTX9090 won't help you guys. Many sceneries are still CPU-depended, so learn how to oc your CPU to 5.5-5.6

Rare to get to 5.5+… Most of us are happy to OC in the 5.0-5.3 range. And even then, it doesn’t help much with sceneries that are poorly optimized. The best thing that’s ever happened for the sim hardware IS the RTX4080/90. Overclocking my CPU to 5.0 saw a few frames more. Putting the 4080 in my system saw more than a 100% improvement. So yes, overclocking can help marginally, but it’s not the solution to one developer who is notorious for poor performing sceneries. FlyTampa KLAS is better quality and includes the entire strip and I don’t see a measurable drop in performance with that.

Performance absolutely tanks on any west facing takeoff/landing with this particular scenery.

The fact that I was still even actually able to take off in VR is still very impressive of this sim performance wise, if you can successfully climb out of the inibuilds KLAX FPS crawl area in VR much more stable performance will return once about 2 miles out westward.

More impressive is flying with VR on a 8700K and 1080 Ti!

Nope, still horrible performance for me even with an RTX4080 and frame generation on.

What TLOD are you using? How many AI airliners?

Here's my experience with it:

The stutters you see after landing were entirely my fault.
I forgot to enter KLAX as my destination in PSXTraffic, so the program didn't know to load the AI aircraft on the ground until after I touched down.

That aside, I run nearly everything on Ultra in MSFS, except clouds on high and TLOD of 180, and extra freeware scenery (SenecaDriver's Downtown Los Angeles buildings, TheWhiteArcades' Downtown Los Angeles Bridges and iniBuilds' Venice Beach Pack).

TLOD is 200 and I’m not sure number of AI. Whatever live traffic setting in MSFS put in. Maybe around 20-30?

They’ve released an update which includes performance amongst other things. I’m not by the computer for a while to test it out… would love to hear if it’s had any improvements for you.

Hello all!

Anyone else getting a LOT of stutters and very bad performance with KLAX? Not getting this much stutters/bad performance with any other major add-on airports.

I've always thought that the IniBuilds guys put a lot of gigs in their products, and they're not optimized at all.

Time ago, I purchased their KSAT and it has always been a stutter fest. More recently, I downloaded their Skydive Dubai for free and when put together with the rest of Dubai, including not their OMDB version, but the Asobo's one, my graphics card, which I recognize is not the latest model available, looses the battle and crashes the sim, most probably due to VRAM memory reaching out its limits.

Cheers, Ed

I downloaded the new version when it came out, but I never had the original.

Small flight with a 172 Cessna just to see.

I had no problem with it and was quite surprised considering the size of the airport.

I took off and landed twice with no stutters and flybywire running in the background.

Did have one of those blue mesh planes for the first time in MSFS, but apart from that it seemed ok.

Would have to test it more of course.

The KSAT thing is kinda ridiculous. I almost couldn't believe it the first time I flew into it. Their forums dont show any indication FPS will be looked at either. Normally those smaller airports you can take to the bank at being a smooth experience flying into frame rate wise. Comparatively I had decent frames on KLAX before this update with payware KONT nearby so the fact that KSAT is a stutter fest with nothing around is very unfortunate. So far their KSAT and KJFK are the worst airports I own performance wise from any developer, Meanwhile I can fly into payware KORD and KMDW just a few miles down the road and its a smooth experience for me.

Maybe KSAT and KJFK need the SD - Standard Definition texture option in their iniManager. I see KLAX has it as does KDTW but I dont even need that option for those airports. I need it for KJFK and KSAT of all places. Regarding this new Update I felt there was a performance increase when I flew into it and am very happy with T3 being updated.

Last night I flew a PMDG B737BCF from KPDX to KLAX.

Way back when I first installed the original Inibuilds KLAX, I ended up uninstalling it because, as others have reported, it was a complete stutter-fest.

When the update was released, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. The scenery looks very nice, and I did not experience any performance issues like I had in the past.

Very rare does the detailed airport addon give us an easy fps. It's always a trade since the days of FS9. Unless one has a high end PC, developers should start informing potential customers about the performance limitations, which is rarely the case IMO.

Better than that, just optimise their products so that the VRAM budget on above mid-range, but below top-end, GPUs isn't surpassed.

4K and 8K textures everywhere without appropriate LODs is a problem that some devs appear unable to deal with, even at smaller airports. Yet Flightbeam manages to do this at their mega hubs like KDEN.

it's all about developer texture compression/optimization and LOD skill.

This one from PacSim sure is one unicorn! 11GB of detailed airport scenery and it runs just as smooth and great as any vanilla airport somehow.

Yes, agree, the latest update seems to have addressed my performance issues. I flew into LAX from New York and had a completely smooth approach, landing and taxi. Great work.

KLAX still has the floating aircraft issue after 2 years now.

Developer:

The issue with this is, that it only happens with Multiplayer aircraft that don't have our scenery. I don't know if there is actually anything we can do against it, but I'll forward it to our scenery team and see if they can
