FS 2020 hangs for over 6 minutes on loading

Featured Replies

I  found that after installing the AS_HONEYCOMB_MSFS_V2100.exe it takes a lot longer to load than before I updated this driver for Honeycomb Bravo and Alpha. It does make the Bravo lights work well though.

Before installing about 4 minutes to launch after about 8 I would guesstimate.

I just go make a cup of coffee or a short walk out in the garden after launching FS2020. When I come back I am all set to program a flight.

Well that sounds easy enough to try....

Just had a go with this trick. Doesn't work.
Also, when the sim is hanging it goes into not responding state in task manager. While it is in that state, it doesn't respond to anything. I had the MSI Afterburner overlay on which also shows on the loading screen and when it's in not responding state, it's impossible to hide (or bring it up if it doesn't show). Works again when the sim has loaded.

Also seen the sim hang on loading and require a Task Manager hard shut down. Happened at least 3 times, started just before SU10 for me. It also happened a couple times after the initial load up when clicking Fly now. I can then reload the exact same scenario and it will load fine. In my case I think it might be a MS server issue, not my PC. We know the MS servers are inadequate. It might be that the sim is making calls on the MS servers during the loading process and when it gets ignored, it goes belly up.

Something has definitely improved after SU10. With AIG models enabled (I have some 20 Gb of them installed) loading time is 01:53, with AIG disabled I'm ready after 01:37

That is exactly what I see!

Do you use Edge browser??
If so, disable HW acceleration in Edge, it is a 100% reproducing workaround for me.

I wonder how there can be such drastic differences, how big is your community folder, if I may ask? Don't forget Addon linker size.

🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh, and if that happens, the only solution is to start some other programs which use the GPU, in my case I start Minecraft.

Once, that is done, MSFS starts to load further.

Also, ich denke, das ist etwas, das GPU unterbricht utilisation.
... if it is the same reason for the freezes here

Yes, I do. I will give it a try. Thanks!

Surprised me as well to be honest. Community folder with Fenix A320, Navigraph and REX Accuseason is 6.6Gb, my addons folder used by the linker is 47.2Gb

My addons folder used by the linker is 200GB, but I never load all that when going to fly because I have presets.

Of course - I hope everyone uses it like that 😉
