November 1, 20223 yr Does anyone know when Asobo plan to implement full seasons in to MSFS? I read they have plans to do this but it was over 12 months ago. I am tempted to buy Accseasons by REX which appears to be a very good product, but am reluctant to spend money on a product that could end up being made redundant by updates to the base product, especially when I could use that money for an airport scenery instead - but overall MSFS is needing season transitions (or at least tree colour changes) which has become more apparent now we are heading into Autumn and the default MSFS imagery still has summer colours everywhere... Good question and no real idea of timeline has been given, earliest would be SU12 but likely later if I were to guess?... the good thing is that work has started on it since they've marked it as such: https://www.flightsimulator.com/october-27th-2022-development-update/ Edited November 1, 20223 yr by lwt1971 Len 1980s: Sublogic FS II on C64 ---> 1990s: Flight Unlimited I/II, MSFS 95/98 ---> 2000s/2010s: FS/X, P3D, XP ---> 2020+: MSFS Current system: i9 13900K, RTX 4090, 64GB DDR5 4800 RAM, 4TB NVMe SSD
November 1, 20223 yr I have had seasons for over a year.. Bijan.....https://secure.simmarket.com/bijan-habashi-4-season-pack_free-lod-for-msfs.phtml
November 1, 20223 yr I believe they want the "free" version Bob. For now, just payware REX Accuseason and Bijan are available for MSFS seasons. Both do work great.
November 1, 20223 yr With Rex Accuseason, and unless Asobo is planning on adding something unique, I see little point in them wasting time on this when there are more critical issues. Right now, for me (and I know everyone has different priorities), the most critical issue is the terrain pop-in masking issue where it has bad blending errors and loads a darker color as you fly over. Also, it would be nice if they didn't make custom polygons function differently than the default scenery when it comes to snow coverage (that is entirely annoying). November 1, 20223 yr I’d say far enough away that unless you want full green trees all fall and winter (northern hemisphere) you may as well buy an addon. I use accuseason, there was recently a lengthy thread here that debated the merits of that and Bijan. Is that where the landscape tiles pop in underneath as you fly over them at low level (A few hundred feet)? The first time I spotted this was at St. Barts., where the water tiles were changing directly underneath me straight after take-off. I have seen it in a few other areas since. Annoying. November 1, 20223 yr For all the people saying just use rex, that is not a good solution at high altitude where everything still looks green. The rex colors fade out in a small radius and dont change ground textures. Far improved when you are down low though. G Gary Davies aka "Gazzareth" Simming since 747 on the Acorn Electron

It needs to be fixed, and it is Asobo's issue. Edited November 1, 20223 yr by Alpine Scenery AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram
November 1, 20223 yr I flew a friends sim that had Accuseason, I have Bijan. Mine looks much more realistic, in my opinion.

To have proper seasons in MSFS wouldn't be a waste of time IMO, but at the moment there are quite a few other items higher on my wish list. Without Beijan or Rex it might have been different though but both of these products are a decent workaround and worth the money unless you are willing to wait perhaps a few years. November 1, 20223 yr I hope they get it right when they introduce seasons. Changing the colours of the trees is nice, but there is much more to seasons than that. Flora: · Realistically changing foliage colours depending on tree type and time of year · Deciduous trees without leaves in winter · Plausible colours of aerial images depending on season. It's weird do see bright yellow rape fields in winter. This might be tricky · All these colour changes would have to be tied to biomes and be dynamic to some extent as the seasons vary from place to place. Not an easy task I guess. The snow system needs a major overhaul: · More accurate and detailed snow coverage (Meteoblue has the data) · Roads should be cleared, in high-altitude areas and after a lot of snow, perhaps only partially · Especially at airports there is still plenty of work to do · Dynamic snow that's affected by planes and other vehicles would be the icing on the cake. Just imagine the planes leaving tracks in the snow or snowploughs clearing the taxiways after some heavy snow. But that's probably asking too much Likewise, ice coverage should be reworked: · Ice on inland waters should not be tied to snow coverage as it is now but should be made dependent on duration of low temperatures · Ice on the sea should be based on actual data and not the snow map (Meteoblue has the data) I'm sure there are many more things that could be added, but as this short list shows, it's a pretty complex matter if you want to do it right. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2
