November 8, 20223 yr I spend at least two to four hours a day on my computer simming or other business and this fifteen-year-old desk chair I'm on is getting hard on my 225-pound arthritic body. My knees hurt. I told my wife I want a nice quality desk chair since I spend so much time on it. So, my question: Do you have a desk / gaming chair you just love enough to recommend? Comfortable but not slouchy, good back support but not cruelly hard, especially on the load bearing section? I have the usual flood of pop adds you get after researching something, but I would appreciate some real person recommendations. Vic green
November 8, 20223 yr I have a Herman Miller office chair. It's so very comfortable and it has tremendous support. Wouldn't think about any other brand chair. Chairs - Herman Miller Edited November 8, 20223 yr by spilok
November 9, 20223 yr I have a DX Racer chair, purely because of its back support and structural integrity which the many cheap office chairs I had over the years seriously lacked. I damaged my back in 2002 in a trampolining accident in France so require good back support. This chair has been excellent, it has great lumbar support and is very comfortable. I will however look for something other when I do change, as the racing style chair doesn't work too well with my large build.
November 9, 20223 yr I've used a wheelchair as a desk chair long enough to wear out two of them. I only need it as a wheelchair during gout flareups. As you know, wheelchairs are made for people who have to sit a lot. 😄 In the Pentagon we had what I think were Steelcase chairs which were very comfortable. Not the modern ones, google "mid century steelcase chairs" for the ones that are molded. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
November 9, 20223 yr Herman Millers are basically the bar for office chair quality. Spendy, though. Even used ones aren't cheap. November 9, 20223 yr Here ya go! https://www.xchair.com/features I understand you can also add heating, cooling, and massage. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
November 9, 20223 yr I have one of cheapest office chairs on Amazon (about $35). Because it is also extremely light weight and I can just move my feet to roll it around while sitting. For me the only thing I need is lightness. If you aren't in it, then you can literally bump it with your little finger and it will fly across the whole room. As for comfort, a good coccyx cushion on top that chair turned it into way better comfort than the best expensive chair I ever sat in without a cushion. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 9, 20223 yr As for lumbar support, these 'knee' cushions are all about the same. but I don't use it on my knees or legs. I just place it behind my back and raise/lower it until it fits in the small of my back. It's the only type of cushion that prevents lower back pain for me. Actually we have 6 or 7 of these leg cushions for me and my wife scattered around the house. All used for lumbar (lower back) support. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. November 9, 20223 yr Author Thanks everyone for the recommendations. All helpful. LOL my wife thinks I just need to get up and move around more. Probably right. She usually is about such things. Vic green

November 9, 20223 yr Steelcase Leap, outstanding. I had back surgery in 1989, so I’m real careful about how I sit. The best one for me: https://www.steelcase.com/products/office-chairs/leap/
