14 key features of Just Flight’s FS Traffic coming soon

I'll be buying it. If only because of my experience with Traffic Global in XP11     , which was a miracle of coding to me. The default AI crushed fps to a ridiculous degree with just a couple of planes whilst Traffic Global cost just one or two fps for the whole hog. I'm hoping the same will be true for this.

(Mind you, FSLTL is suiting me just fine with IFR set to 20, GA set to 1 and Statics set to 1.)

I tend to agree, however the different versions of Traffic Global (P3D version and Xplane 11 version) had different developers, with the Xplane version being the best effort, and the dev (Jim Keir) now works for Laminar Research, so I doubt he has had anything to do with the MSFS version, but you never know?

AMD 9800X3D,  NZXT X73 RGB AIO COOLER, Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WIFI7, 64GB 6000MHZ RAM, 4TB Samsung Pro NVME, 4 TB Crucial P3+ NVME, 4TB Crucial SSD, Gigabyte Gaming OC Geforce RTX5090, Antec C8 ARGB Case, X55 JOYSTICK/THROTTLES, LG 4K C4 42" TV/Monitor 120 Hz, 2 Dell 1080 monitors. Honeycomb Alpha Yoke, Bravo Throttle. Thrustmaster TPR Pedals. Moza AB6 FFB Joystick, Pimax Crystal Light VR, Tobii Eye tracker, Steelseries Arctis 7+ Wireless Headphones.

Ah. A pity if he isn't involved. Jim Keir was second to none when it came to customer service never failing to responding to customer questions and observations.

But sitting at, i think it was Gate 17 at Brisbane Airport and the Dash 8’s were literally taxying through me was a killer.

Switch Collision avoidance to On, to prevent that.

I wonder if the developers have considered the impact of bugs caused by Asobo. FSLTL was impacted by some significant bugs to the AI system resulting in limited arrivals and extreme sound volume of taxiing AI aircraft.

Because FSLTL is freeware, there isn't all that much the community can expect but to wait until Asobo fixes the bugs or a workaround to be put in place.

But if a similar scenario occurs and you had purchased this addon, it would be disastrous having your entire user base unable to use a previously working product which has been broken by a Sim Update.

maybe because its spyware, Asobo will take it more serious? And fix it quicker? Here's hoping.

Don't see any advantage over AIG or FSLTL and on top it's payware. It's basically AIG (offline flight plans), just with a more user-friendly interface, but most certainly not even close the amount of different liveries of AIG. It might have an edge if it comes with better sounds for all those models, but since they didn't write anything about it, I'd say it won't.

A more friendly user interface is huge considering all the other trouble we're having with AI Traffic...🧐

You have me worried at the moment.  Did you mean payware?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

So if i am understanding things correctly, this addon will add AI traffic worldwide, on nearly every airport using real flight route and real airlines liveries.

As an exemple, will I get all the flights in and outbound from VTSM with real liveries or generic ones, or the AI is only for certain airports?

I believe, there is a manipulation to do to lower the resolution of the AI planes, but you have to get your hands dirty...
When FSTraffic talks about 4096x4096 textures, we can already predict that the drop in FPS will be substantial!
I hope there will be an option for at least 2K.

For the developer it shouldn't be difficult to supply textures in several qualities and we get to choose between them. I expect no less from a commercial product!
With enough Vram 4K textures shouldn't be an issue though. I am more worried about the impact on the main thread. I assume all AI calculations will be done in a seperate thread that runs on an unused CPU core but eventually everything still needs to communicate with the main thread. This problem already exists with our current freeware traffic of course.

Wait you lose 20% FPS with 10 (ten) aircraft max. injected...?

I know this is not intuitive and was the reason I decided to try FSLTL because of the control over density.  I also have the Injector running off the main thread.  Fortunately if it's too much the process can be quickly killed and its impact disappears quickly.

I've limited air traffic to 10, 50km radius

FSLTL set 10 IFR is a percentage of potential traffic that is around you, so it will float up and down depending on where you are and the local time. In EGCC at the moment with FSLTL set to 10 with a 50 km injection radius and ALL other traffic set to 0, I'm getting 34 AI injected by FSLTL in the vicinity with a drop of 4 fps compared to no traffic at all. It just comes down to each user needing to set it up to what works for both their system and personal needs.

Oh I see thanks.  So I should perhaps look to see how much RT traffic is happening where I will be and adjust the percent accordingly.  That's unfortunate I would have much preferred a simple max number of planes in my radius this solves the performance piece, whereas using a percentage requires much more tuning etc.  Maybe sometime the dev may offer this possibility.

That being said the 10 I misunderstood do seem to keep traffic down to where it needs to be.  Plus, I've noticed the 18-20% impact has happened with a variety of baseline FPS.  For example at 60fps, a drop of 20% is takes it to ~48fps, whereas at a baseline of 36fps a drop of 20% is is only 6fps to take you to 30fps.

That does not seem to be what I saw a little while ago.  I flew into KSHR and in an approx 50km radius there were 3 planes and sure enough I saw them all in TCAS.  This is a remote rural airport and when I looked at LittleNavMap sure enough the 3 were there as well.  This seems to suggest it's a number not a percentage and it it's less than the set value all will display otherwise be limited to the set maximum.

That's what I'm seeing as well. I was under the impression that the only setting where a percentage applied was Statics and that the the IFR/GA figure was the maximum that would spawn?
