Constant CTD since last update

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently had these frustrating ctd's.  In my case, the culprit was a evil AMD gpu driver. Hope you find your solution ✈️.

Yep...same here for me...

Now get BSOD and crashes on almost every flight for one reason or another...

At present I am finding MSFS 2020 a very fickle unstable platform.

I had none from the beginning until SU10 then problems started...something must have changed...

As a caveat, when I restart I fly in safe mode as I can actually complete it...this suggests to me it's a 3rd party content but can I narrow it down...Not...

No issues with safe mode..

I am so glad I kept my Prepar3d (enormous) installation as at least I can fly and complete a flight...

Did you follow above steps like

1. rename community folder

2. Clear rolling cache

3. Clear scenery index

if 1. already works then indeed it would seem to be a 3rd party issue. Mods from FS.to would be my first guess as I primarily use scenery from either Orbx or Marketplace and those tend to be ok in terms of not causing CTDs after updates. At least on my end.

I am actually surprised that devs get time to fly for fun/leisure like the rest of us,  and not just for beta testing your addons

That is of course correct. Which makes it even more frustrating when I do have a bit of time and the sim just hates me...

i am sorry but for most people msfs is very stable now, you do need to tune stuff right, including windows.

Your saying ATC is stable in SU11?  No one has ever stated that...🤨

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

I use the built-in ATC all the time. While the audio does occasionally stop playing, I can still see the instructions in the log and reply as necessary. On most flights, I use the AI Communications feature and let msfs handle everything. I can honestly say that I have never seen it crash the sim. ATC isn't perfect,  but it is working fairly well for me most of the time. Lately, it has been clearing me to all the proper altitudes during both departures and arrivals. I'm kind of surprised by that to tell you the truth.

Same here. Just finished another flight from Fuerteventura to Tenerife North using default ATC and had no problems.

by stable is meant , not crashing, and you seem to have always issues.

atc is pretty rubbish.

Not bragging, but I have no CTD's at all. I'm in the BETA group and using the latest beta. Never had such great fps, no stutters. This is with either FAA, FLAA, and DLSS Quality and LOD's at 200 (I have a modest computer as shown in specs). In FAA or FLAA I use preset ULTRA for Global Rendering.

No CTD's ever even at the lowest performing airport I have (KBUR 2 by Orbx).

The above is 2D. But I get the same results in VR (Reverb G2) except lower fps.

Nv Cntl Panel Vertical Sync  is set to Use App. And Vsync at 50% in MSFS (30 fps). I would get 40 to 65 fps with Vsync off in 2D but I leave it on.

I think the only important setting reported above regarding this issue is that I'm in the BETA. Thus I don't have to wait for problems to be fixed, they're fixed  already in the BETA.

anyway, hope your CTD issue resolves itself soon.. I had recurrent CTDs too, turns out it was HAGS set to ON.. so disabled it and has been fine since then.. only 2 good flights so far.. fingers crossed...

ya I know that ping windows sound which used to play when my old logitech attack 3 joystick was connected.. threw it out and replaced with a newer joystick and that problem went away.. good luck!

Hi, I'm sorry I was reading but..... 'HAGS' ???  Could you tell me what that is please?

(I've had a couple of unexplained 'Stoppages' whilst flying & was trawling the Post for info really)  Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! For folks who is bashing MSFS I didn't have CTD short or long haul for a very long time. It was vary stable platform in my experience until recently. CTD started just this week and half out of nowhere.

I'm following recommendations given in this thread. I also switched to DX12 for now. So far so good (knock on the wood)

P.S. I'm waiting for my rig with more memory, faster CPU and most importantly RTX4090. While I'm exciting about new PC and totally terrified reinstalling MSFS LOL

Sorry for being cryptic. HAGS is hardware accelerated GPU scheduling. It’s an option under graphics settings under windows settings menus. It says it helps with low latency etc but Turn it off to prevent CTD.
