FlyInside Bell 206 Released

Featured Replies

Just got an email, available here: https://flyinside-helis.com/home-206

I remember reading about a 206 coming to MSFS but I thought that was another dev?  Anyway, looking forwarded to checking this one out.

There is another 206 coming from Cowan soon. Both look really good!

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Is the FlyInside custom FM better than the new helicopter FM?

Can't comment on the B206 (yet), but the B47 flight model feels pretty good to me (as in zero comparison with the Asobo/Nemeth B407, and a whole lot better than the not-bad Cabri). If the B47 is anything to go by don't expect too much in terms of modelling or texturing, but the flying ought to be good.

Then again, so should the Cowan be ... 😅

Well well, competition is good!

Only "minor" annoyance is probably the fact it doesn't run natively in MSFS FM wise. Which might be good but also annoying if you have to start a program separately (just like with AirlandFS back then).

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

They said on a post in their forum that the Asobo FM doesn't have enough parameters to faithfully recreate helicopter physics yet so that's why they have stuck to their own FM.   As they have been doing heli physics for many years I'm inclined to believe theirs is better. I personally love their FM over any others I've tried in this sim.

They are currently missing out on Xbox sales by not moving over to the Asobo FM. It seems they value a quality FM over the extra cash they could be making. I think that says a lot about them as devs and the faith they have in their FM.

I have an odd sound glitch I hear passing jet sound very loud inside 206. Anyone else?

Have you tried the latest  version of the Robinson R44,   which doesn't use Airland,   but rather uses the MSFS heli physics?   It feels like a very nice little bird to me.

Interested in what you think.

I haven't yet, but will make a point of trying the Robbie today. 👍

To add: the FM is developed by someone who has hours on a real R44 and mentioned that it comes very close to the real R44.
Also Asobo's G2 is known to be very close to the real Cabri, so I don't understand people saying that it's FM is not what they expected to be.

I'm having a blast in both of them so like I mentioned before: who is fooling who? 🙂

To go on topic. While the FI Bell undoubtedly will have a realistic FM, the model and textures seem very rushed. I know people see it different but that's just my two cents.

The Cabri does feel very good, so we absolutely agree there. I think much confusion creeps in with a) controller profiles and b) controllers! Anyone with a high-resolution and long-travel dedicated cyclic-style controller (as in long) will have a far better experience.

Watched a review on youtube last night and it looks really good and super realistic.  Probably too twitchy for me though as I've not even mastered the default Bell even with all the assistance on.  Take off and flight is OK but landing still very hit and miss.

Like with the ww2 warbirds,  having a good set of 3 controllers is the way to go.

There is a height/velocity diagram,  page 87 of the Cabri G2 manual, which delineates the zone where insufficient speed makes the flight problematic. You cannot stabilize your landing in the black zone (not me at least 😆). I don’t fly the Nemeth Bell but I suppose its the same.

Spent a few hours with the 206 this morning.  Really enjoying it, a pleasure to fly.   As with the B-47 it takes a while to get used too (Full difficulty settings) as it's not like the super stable Asobo FM helis and the H145. Once you get your brain dialled in it's great though.

Not the greatest modelling/textures, but hopefully they will work on those as they did with the B-47. It's certainly not unpleasant, just not really up to the standard set by HPG... but I'll take the far superior FM over fancy textures any day!

My only real issue with it is the heavy framerate hit.  One of the worst aircraft performance wise in my hangar.  That needs addressing before anything else imo.

Overall this is the heli I'll be flying the most for the foreseeable future, no doubt about it.
