A masterpiece in the making FBW A380

It's a simulator. You can do whatever you like. Maybe, like -- having more than one mission?

Yes but i will most likely never do long haul flights. Thats what the 380 is for. For everything else the 32N is a good option.

I’ve never wanted to give my money away more!… These freeware guys are the ones that will keep the flightsim community alive indefinitely.

Lots of options of real world short flights in the A380, but it doesn't seem I'll change your mind, even though flight simulation is make-believe anyways.

Because it's too good to be a freeware. It was a joke of course.

There is nothing stopping you or anyone else from donating to their cause, in fact it is highly suggested. Just donate whatever you can.

Not if people don't donate. It cost FBW a lot of resources and $ out of their pockets and through donations to keep these projects going. Lets not forget this.

Don't worry. I'm all good flying my BBJ missions for the time being.

Incredible!! Will be a game changer for MSFS when it lands in the hands of users in whatever early form FBW deem fit, as I'm sure it'll be an immersive experience to fly then, and definitely afterwards as they continue to improve it. The attention to detail is very very clear, and I have a feeling we'll learn that applies to systems and flight model as well in upcoming previews. Absolutely can't wait for this iconic bird on the MSFS platform. Congrats and much kudos FBW team!, you're the gift that keeps on giving 🙂

Fantastic work by a fantastic team!! I was so lucky to meet with a few FBW members during the Flightsimulator weekend at the Aviodrome at EHLE (Lelystad airport) in the Netherlands. We indeed also discussed the fact that FBW delivers payware+ level aircrafts for free and it was explained to me that it is part of their mission statement. They also showcased the A380, a real master peace in the making! Hats off to FBW team.

I'm quite sure I will fly the 380 a lot. Like empty from Nantucket to Laguardia. Or with 400 souls on board from Cleveland Hopkins to Chicaco O'Hare. Not realistic? Of course it is! 🙂

Not sure what it is about the "realistic" thing. Never said it matters.

This FBW guys must be crazy, how else should you pull off such a perfect project, you just have to be crazy - holy smoke..😎🥳

A month ago or so I came here looking for encouragement to try Airbus, having come from Boeing since FSX days.  I settled on learning the FBW A320NX.  About a week ago I have it pretty much have it mastered (for my use, which is in A Pilot's Life).  I had a chance to test drive a more optimized version of it which pretty much got rid of its notorious stuttering especially noticeable during taxi--but otherwise the plane performs very well in terms of frame rate.  The optimization work isn't done apparently and is yet to be incorporated into the plane but sounds like it won't be long.  It's VNAV works quite well, you can fudge RNAV w/o using APPR and it works.  And now, a week later, I'm starting to really like this plane and it's now pushing Boeing aside!  It makes PMDG's 738 stand out as kinda subpar ultimately, compared to this handiwork.  And now the 380?  It looks fantastic!!!

Some of why the pmdg seems subpar  is that the plane they're modeling is subpar. The thing is a relic of the 60s with modern stuff slapped on top. While Airbus was coming out with new cutting-edge designs Boeing was doing yet another refresh of the 737. I love flying both in sim, but it's pretty easy to find real world line pilots who think the 737 isn't all that great because of the lack of automation. One guy remarked, for example, that putting the packs in auto mode doesn't actually make them automatic, and you still have to shut them off to start the engines. He thought that was incredibly backwards for an airliner in the 2020s.

Please please let's have decent performance though.  No point in modeling everything in ridiculous detail if it's not PMDG 737 levels of performance, IMHO.

At some point you have to call them what they are,   artists.
