A masterpiece in the making FBW A380

A month ago or so I came here looking for encouragement to try Airbus, having come from Boeing since FSX days.  I settled on learning the FBW A320NX.  About a week ago I have it pretty much have it mastered (for my use, which is in A Pilot's Life).  I had a chance to test drive a more optimized version of it which pretty much got rid of its notorious stuttering especially noticeable during taxi--but otherwise the plane performs very well in terms of frame rate.  The optimization work isn't done apparently and is yet to be incorporated into the plane but sounds like it won't be long.  It's VNAV works quite well, you can fudge RNAV w/o using APPR and it works.  And now, a week later, I'm starting to really like this plane and it's now pushing Boeing aside!  It makes PMDG's 738 stand out as kinda subpar ultimately, compared to this handiwork.  And now the 380?  It looks fantastic!!!

Shots Fired!  187 in progress.   😁

Some of why the pmdg seems subpar  is that the plane they're modeling is subpar.

That's what I was thinking.

This FBW guys must be crazy, how else should you pull off such a perfect project, you just have to be crazy - holy smoke..😎🥳

cheers 😉

It helps to have all of the work done pro bono if indeed it is by talented people, and not to have to support a business per se like PMDG and others do.  I think my aspirations for B777 have gone down substantially though I really enjoyed it in P3D.  It's a new day however...

Not sure what it is about the "realistic" thing. Never said it matters.

There's an old saying which springs to mind, 'if you have nothing good to say, then don't saying anything at all'. Old sayings exist for a reason, you know.

9 hours after being posted on YT, this video has garnered 52K views and 700+ comments which truly says something about the special group of folk that are FBW and also the MSFS platform itself.  As a lot of the comments also point out, we're lucky to be in this age of flight simming with a very much needed refreshing new guard of developers (i.e. FBW, Asobo+WT, Fenix, etc) who are making big strides.

This thing is definitely going to be in my hangar.

Good to see that some devs are eager to show things during the process, contrary to those Big Names who for years accustomed us for policy - it is done when it is done, no pictures and movies until a week before realease...

This looks amazing. I'm sure the FBW team will do an excellent job with the A380.

I love how some of the best talent are working on add-ons for MSFS now.  The FBW team, A2A, PMDG, Fenix, the FSLTL team, AIG, Majestic, FSLabs, etc. I can't wait to see what add-ons come out in the next 3 years for MSFS!

Astonishing.

The FBW Team has proven over and over that their work does deliver top-notch quality to the community.

Cheers,

At some point you have to call them what they are,   artists.

Yes they are artist and with the sounds. Now all they need is someone (plural)  to do a proper FM, Systems and Navigation for this beast. Thats probably the hardest part and the most complex to do. No one has done it properly for a A380 before and I wish them great luck and success.

Overall it looks very promising. The wingflex on takeoff did look a bit weird to my eyes though.

Unfortunately i won't be using it much since it just doesn't fit my mission profile.

Having sat in front of the wing of a A380 fully loaded and departing YMML to KLAX the wings droop down a fair bit and just as you near rotation are almost straight so hopefully with some time this is looked at by the devs. It is a great preview.

Yes,  that is certainly true. Now they have created the eco skeleton, their next, most difficult and time consuming task will be to create the heart of the beast. In the meantime, all we can do is drool over their artistry 🙂

True but old things sometimes get replaced by new, more modern and contemporary ones. For a reason too.
