February 11, 20233 yr Hey There, Been a while, a bunch of moves and an aging PC kept me away for a second. Now I'm getting a new rig and I'm ready to dive back in. Here's what I've settled on and I'm about to make the plunge: 13700k 4070ti 32g Ram DDR5/6000 MB: ASRock Z790 Steel Legend 2TB WD BLACK SN850X I guess my biggest question is the 4070ti. I know the 4080 has more VRam, but it puts me significantly over the budget I set for myself. Am I going to regret it? My plan was to enjoy it for a year or so and wait for price drops on the 4090. Thanks everyone! Can't wait to get back!
February 11, 20233 yr Congratulations on your powerful new rig. I'm jealous! I wouldn't worry about the 4070ti. I've been very happily flying MSFS since its release on a 1070. February 11, 20233 yr I think you'll be well-satisfied with the 4070Ti's performance. I've looked hard at the RTX40xx cards since they've released and can't at this point justify the cost vice the performance of my current OG 3080 10GB GPU. Or the cost of the hospital bill if/when my lady decides to bludgeon me with a rolling pin after learning of my expenditure. 😅 Corsair 5000D Airflow | Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master | i7-11700K @ 4.9GHz | Corsair iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT | G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB DDR4-3600 CL16 RAM | Crucial P5 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME | WD 14TB external HDD | Gigabyte RTX 3080 Aorus Master | EVGA G3 850 W 80+ Gold PSU | LG 32GP850-B 32.0" 2560x1440 165Hz | Saitek X52 HOTAS | Win10 21H2
February 11, 20233 yr 12GB Ram is most likely adequate unless you are using a high end VR headset in which case more would be nice.
February 11, 20233 yr As noted in the signature below, I've been using a system that includes a 3070ti for about six months now. I'm running it on a 4K monitor locked at 30 fps (mainly B737 and Fenix) and settings on ultra. Very satisfied with the performance. February 11, 20233 yr Welcome back, enjoy! You’ll find the frame generation on a 4000 series card to be a game changer I think. February 12, 20233 yr I have a 6900Xt with 16Gb of VRAM and I use a 1440p monitor. I often see VRAM usage around the 12Gb mark at airports like iniBuilds Heathrow and I use no other scenery. If I were about to build another rig I would wait to see what the next AMD X3D chip will do. I suspect that the 7800X3D with a 4080 would be a killer MSFS rig. I think 12GB GPU for MSFS is a little short sighted. Especially as it moves towards DX12. Honestly, seeing the way all games are going at the moment I think 12GB is short sighted. I think Nvidia has some nerve charging what they are for 12 GB cards. I know you said the 4080 is out of your budget right now but it may be worth saving for a little while longer for one and by then the 7800 X3D will release, too. Then you can lord it over most of us for about 2 years. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2

February 12, 20233 yr Very anoyed that my 3080ti does not support frame generation, and at times MSFS is quite stuttery. http://youtube.com/c/Greazer

Thanks everyone! Can't wait to get back! Welcome back!!! We're living in a Bright Moment for simming, with MFS and XP12. My rig, Ryzen 5600x + RTX 3060Ti, 32 GB RAM, is more than enough to run both sims at respectable settings and performance. MFS has always run super smooth in all t's gorgeousness 🙂 I think a 3070 Ti is JUST GREAT.
