February 18, 20233 yr Moderator The cataract surgery and installation of a Toric interocular lens has been a great success so far. Nearly 100% of my astigmatism has been corrected. Overall brightness and color saturation has increased as well. I had to remove the left lens from my wire-frame glasses in order to see clearly now! 😗 Fr. February 18, 20233 yr I found that while my distance vision was corrected, I still need reading glasses. No problem with that, though - it means I can dispense with expensive varifocals. And being able to drive at night again is quite a relief. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

I actually have a superfluity of wire-frames available. Once my right eye has been operated on, I will receive a new prescription of course and the VA will supply the new prescription as required. I now note that my "old right eye's" color reception is not just darker, but also shows a lot of "yellow". I've always believed that my home's interior paint was beige. Imagine my surprise to learn that they are in fact snow white! 🤭 As for the computer, having a 42" diagonal HDTV really helps me to see clearly now... I can see clearly now, the fuzz is gone. Or will be in another few weeks. 😂 Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

February 21, 20233 yr Moderator After an eye test last week my optician recommended surgery as the cataracts in my left eye were making a new prescription a waste of time. Here in the UK private eye hospitals can take on NHS patients and there’s no charge. You wait a little longer but free is a lot more attractive than 2600GBP. The company are reimbursed by the taxpayer. I’ve decided on a monofocal lens to keep things simple. Glasses will still be required for astigmatism and correction. The other eye will need doing in a year or two. @n4gix, glad it’s improved the quality of your life. 👍 Ray (Cheshire, England).
