March 13, 20233 yr I was thinking of downloading this mod and was wondering what the feedback on it was from you guys? https://flightsim.to/file/19345/msfs-2020-google-map-replacement Any tips? things to be aware of? Performance issues? thanks in advance! 😎 B450 Tomahawk Max / Ryzen 7 5800x3D / RTX 3060ti 8G / Noctua NH-UI21S Max Cooling / 32G Patriot RAM / 1TB NVME / 450G SSD / Thrustmaster TCA & Throttle Quadrant / Xiaomi 32" Wide Curved Monitor 1440p 144hz
March 13, 20233 yr No performance issues - performance is the same. If you want to revert to MS Bing maps you have to be careful how you uninstall it - just follow the instructions carefully. Remember it is an unofficial mod, and Google and MS could block its use eventually (may be unlikely in the short term). Google for the bandwidth involved and potential misuse of their maps in this scenario, and MS because they want you to use Bing. Certainly Asobo don't like to talk about it and they ignore discussion on it. The horrible green colouring is gone using Google maps, and it can also appear sharper / more detailed. It fills in some gaps in the Bing mapping, but then again, Bing covers some areas that Google doesn't. If you tread carefully with the instructions, it is alright to try, then it is down to your personal preference if you decide to keep it or not. EDIT: Note that it has gone payware now for the better features. I decided I can tolerate the MS Bing maps, and possibly less trouble in the future. March 13, 20233 yr I used this mod a lot and the colors are much more realistic than MSFS 2020 by default despite the different tile colors in some places. But now with 10-20kms radius around the plane ruin everything .
March 13, 20233 yr I have read many comments by users, that state that some areas look better with Google maps and some look better with Bing. I am sticking with Bing. Edited March 13, 20233 yr by Bobsk8

Yes that's why this mod is a success, people spend their time reading the text all over the ground. You would have done better to open a book.
