Black Square Announces the B60 Duke!

Featured Replies

Wow this is a surprise.  Looks like my P3D install might be finally on the way out as one of the only reasons it is still there is the turbine Duke!

I always found it curious that the Turbine conversion meant Vne for the Duke increased by about 50 knots.

Never really understood how swapping in a PT6A would change Vne .

Could it be a certification issue rather than a change in actual physical limitations ?

I just hope the interior will be MSFS standard graphics wise. the RealAir had this wooden panel and smell of 50 year old curtains that I don't want in any cockpit. doors that open instead. other than that, agreed to everything that has been said. good thing is, it will make use of workingtitle's Garmin magic, so no need to waste precious developer time there. and once you know one, you know all of them GNS 430/530s.

very nice.

Oh how I wish Robert Young could be involved in this in some capacity (if he is well enough of course).

I vaguely remember reading something to that extent.  IIRC the extra speed capacity was in the yellow ring not green?  Been a while since I flew it though so I might have that wrong.

As good as the RealAir guys were, I don't remember them including any smells with their Duke.  It could be time to consider new curtains in your home?  😁

Good morning to you, good Mr. Stoopy, how's it going there.

you can call it what you want, I call it imagination. just like I smell jet fuel when I make my outside checks in VR. and yes, that smell I do love.

I wish I could call a B60-Duke "home" 😀

But probably some side effects after I watched this whole episode from "When the curtain falls"

Do I not detect the guiding hand of Rob hovering in the background? Maybe it's just me.😉

I really hope so.  He knows this thing inside-out.

I think it was an early mistake on RA's part.  The turbine version I had was like 198 or something.  Originally it was 250 I think and they made a patch and brought it back down.

What are you using for cruising IAS ? ~180kts ?

Oh boy it's been a minute.  I think on the turbine you basically go right up to the bottom of redline.

In the piston I think whatever power setting get's you 160 kias or so.  Of course that depends on altitude.  I think service ceiling was FL250 so maybe 140-160 kias?

Without further comment other than to say we should consider Robert's privacy.

This is the best MSFS news I've heard in some time.  I loved the A2A planes in P3D, but IMO, the RealAir Turbine Duke was the top of the heap!

Wow. Apart from saying I'm speechless, I'm speechless.

Amazing how developers nobody had ever heard of before turn up out of nowhere and start deliver top-notch A2A-style proiducts to MSFS 2020.  If The Commitments were gorillas* guerillas of soul, Black Square must be the guerillas of sim aircraft development. Oh, I appear to have recovered my powers of speech...

*Bonus points to anyone who gets this reference. 😁
