MSFS is really gunning for that "best for IFR" title.

I think by AAU3 or AAU4, MSFS will have taken a clear lead on being the best flight simulator for IFR.

I don't know that the military around the world are spending money modelling the G1000, G3000, G5000, GNS 430, GNS 530, etc.  Aren't these civilian avionics systems?  Working Title has modeled these for MSFS and they have done a stellar job on it.

I suspect it's related to the processor power and the available memory. The A320 Ceo processor probably dates from the late 60s/early 70s if not earlier. I've no idea if they used a more recent processor for the A320 Neo. The G5000 probably has a more recent processor and more memory so is capable of more functions. All IMHO of course. Perhaps someone has more definitive info.

I was going to say this. The A320 is very complex, automated and obviously updated with some stuff over the years and I guess the NEO has some newer systems under the hood here and there, but it's aging. First flight 1987, introduction 1988. You kinda forget that quickly when looking at one. Not surprising to me that state of the art GA avionics are more complex and powerful given they are much, much newer. In a lot of aircraft like the A320, CRJs or MAX/NG is stuff that's ancient.

Some here in this forums will say, is only meant for VFR ignoring all those facts 🥴

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

If they can get a decent the avionics up to the A310 level I'll be happy.

Exactly - nobody knows, but I won't be interested in it anyway.

With Working Title improving the default version, that will be enough for me, especially if the freeware 787-8 mod can use the features as well.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

They were/are but no news has been made about it for a few years now - Here is the original announcement: https://www.facebook.com/QualityWings/posts/pfbid029ykRrNHDmXijBquomJwApLpmhkco6z28jrWnihwvx2TnxpXXGVGGYMxfQ1hVcvtql

Wow, after looking at that old Facebook post, I forgot that QW had already done the exterior 3D model for the 787 for MSFS.  I hope it wasn't much work that they spent on it, because it could be wasted work if they never release it for MSFS.  In that Facebook post, QW says:

Quote

While we have been actively testing the pre-release versions of the new sim since early 2020, it has really only been with the last few iterations of the SDK that things have started to take shape.
As with everything new it took us a while to become familiar with the sim, the tools, the processes, the limitations and the new possibilities.
We wanted to take that time before making an announcement of any kind because of the many unknowns we’ve been confronted with.

So QW was knee deep with the SDK, trying to port the 787 to MSFS.  That post was from October 25 of 2020, and QW was estimating the release by Q2 of 2021.  QW had to have some level of confidence with an estimate like that, meaning the 787 had progressed enough for them to make such an estimate.  The only thing I can think of, that would derail their progress, is the loss of a critical developer on their team (probably poached by another company).  This is the only explanation that I can think of, that would cause QW to miss their estimated release date by 2 years.

Minus the visuals, ironically. If you recall, there are other commercial sims that are being used for Level-D visuals, precisely because the depictions of lighting and visibility are more realistic.

If I’ve got the 787X heavy mod installed, do I just remove the heavy folder when the WT version is released?

Very much so. But we can't cite references here. It will lead to fights and thread lockage.
