I'm done FlightSim.to

Featured Replies

Anyway, I've just tried to update some freeware of flightsim.to and I get a message saying Turn of your Adblocker. Fine I look at adblocker plus and see that its already set to allow adds in flightsim.to. I then look at the fine print and apparently they want me to scourer to find out whats interfering with their website and suggesting I use another browwer other than Firefox which I've used for years. Not worth the effort. Bye bye.

What the main alternative to flightsim.to for MSFS Freeware?

I stopped using Firefox ages ago and just went back to Edge, which pretty much does everything now and pretty well.

Does the Avsim Library still get used ?

There is no alternative to Flightsim.to, at least in the capacity that it serves. Maybe, just deal with the minimal ads and enjoy lots of really good and free content?

Agreed. I use Firefox with Adblocker but quite happy to disable it for that site. Some of the ads are pretty irritating I must admit.

I gave up on Chrome because of the ads. The one thing I like about Edge is its ability to save web pages as you see it into .mhtml files. Copies everything on the webpage to your local drive. Reminds me of 'spider' programs.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

I use Edge with Addblocker off for this particular site. No problem.

As  I can see, none of the old freeware libraries (FS.com, Avsim etc.) have caught up with the MSFS freeware explosion, for some reasons.

I use Firefox with addblocker and switched addblocker of for flightsim.to.

But if you are done with it you're done and that's your choice.

Agreed. Me neither. Also using Chrome with Adblock Plus. Never had an issue with Flightsim.to.

You want another website because you can not undermin its financing method with ads?

Have fun @ other ad infested sites with less content.

The ads are there to finance the webserver etc etc.

+1. I'm a Web Developer in RL and can tell you that hosting a popular/busy site (with correspondingly large file storage) can get *very* expensive.

I really hate advertising - and am old enough to remember when it didn't permeate every aspect of our lives but, in this case, I'm happy to put up with them because the site is well organised, easy to use - and (of course) has lots of MSFS goodies!
