That was correct, though? The speed brake is neither armed on the 787 or 737 for takeoff. What 787 feature did he mistake?

Yes obviously, just funny (to me anyway) how animated he seemed to be by it.

He got a few things wrong about the 78, can’t remember what they were at the moment, which is fair enough, it’s very different to the 73 which he flies.

I wonder if anyone has raised the point that the 787 flight deck isn't the right colour. It's much lighter in real life - not the dark grey depicted in the sim.

Probably a very naïve question but I havn't really flown the 787 or 747 for some time - Are there any mods (or does this update, not withstanding its Avionics related), allow for the opening of doors (cargo etc).

I'm out again until the white dot/flickering cursor issue is fixed. All this joining and leaving the beta won't end well.

?

What exactly is this effect? Shimmering? Does it affect users with different GPUs?

I've read the thread on the official forums about this white dot nonsense and the response from Seedy suggests it's another low priority item that won't get fixed for months/years, quite why they included this "feature" in an update that is supposedly just about AAU is anyone's guess....but then history shows us they do things very differently at Asobo!

It only rears its head in the beta for me. And it's not just a white dot, the cursor flickers and disappears. It's a bug specific to this beta. As soon as I opt out of the beta the issue does not occur. I have a cheap XBox controller which I use for the drone but disconnecting it makes no difference. Maybe it's a Store/XBox app only issue? No idea. I've only had the problem with this beta. It's no big deal because this is indeed a beta. But I hope they will fix it before the final release!

If that is the case, it's not good.  I find it quite distracting every time I change views.  It only just started to happen since the AAU2 beta, so why can't they just reverse it?

Keen to give the 787 a go this weekend.  I can't find the quote but someone had mentioned that it still launches itself off the runway like a rocket and climbs at 8000-9000 fpm  That is always a non-starter for me.  I really hate that.  Can anyone comment?  Are de-rates implemented and can t/o performance be managed realistically, or at least, plausibly

8000-9000fpm is definitely not. I had the plane loaded for 2.5h and saw 4000-5000fpm, but at higher altitude it's about 2000-2500fpm

Voted. It's an Xbox thing. Makes me feel so old.😀 Maybe I should just get with the times and buy an Xbox instead of fiddling around anymore with graphics cards, drivers, settings, hundreds of wires everywhere which can never now be untangled......

I think a lot of folks are unaware of just how much performance the 787 has. Our numbers are basically right on the book, in fact, light, the books give over 7000 fpm off the ground, and those numbers are for climbs speeds of 270. 240 will be even bigger climb rates. And if you haven't reached 240 yet, it's going to be even higher than that.

Derates are definitely necessary if you want to lower the climb out rate. Thankfully they're fully implemented. Another common misunderstanding is thinking that Boeing VNAV targets specific climb rates during climb and uses a path based climb, but this is not correct. It always climbs using max set climb thrust and then adjusts speed via pitch.
