June 12, 20232 yr I highly doubt that there will be a brand new SDK for MSFS 2024. An updated one with new features certainly. sp Edited June 12, 20232 yr by Sky_Pilot071

I think we'll see better hardware utilization in 2024 that will make the sim less demanding, this helps explain why an overhaul was needed for a new client vs an update to the current platform. DCS recently got a multithreading update and the performance is night and day difference. You wouldn't fracture the install base without good reason. My name is Steve and I prefer hand flying. You can bet the crop duster planes and firefighting planes won't be high fidelity but rather arcade. Each of these actions will have the depth of a mobile game, or do you believe they'll develop a fire physics simulation or a crop growing simulation inside MSFS? You seem to feel it only appropriate to call software a simulator (and not arcadey / game) if it models x percent of the real-life experience, and preferably only of IFR flight. Just out of interest, what number is x for you? i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

The front page of this forum shows a picture of Avsim founder Tom Allensworth. If I remember correctly, under his direction years ago, AVSIM boycotted a new release of FS because everyone had purchased tons of addon scenery and planes from the previous edition 2 years earlier. And they would not work in the new edition of FS. That's the issue here, whether all of our FS2020 marketplace and 3rd party addons will work with FS2024. I will gladly pay for FS2024, like maybe $120, as long as the tons of addons I bought for FS2020 will work in the new simulator. By the way, if I'm right about that AVSIM boycott of FS long ago, then it quickly disappeared and there was no more boycott. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. On MSFS forum, I just saw a comment from someone who managed to interpret the official announcement about the compatibility of addons as that only addons bought on the marketplace will be compatible while those bought outside won't be... 🙄 And there are still skeptical people about this. Some saying they won't buy any addons until the developer guarantees they won't charge for the upgrade.

I think we are at a point where Jorg will need to visit personally each user at their house, serve them coffee or tea and explain it to them face to face while eating biscuits, nothing else will make them believe it.. For example between, Contrail, Orbx, Fs Dreamteam etc etc, Ispent around $800/00, am I going to buy these all over again ? Airports, planes, from PMDG Boeing 600 800 900, will I have to buy these all over again.? 10700kf, 3080 nividia, 32gbs 3400mhz, 1,000 watts power, M.2 DVMe !tb, boot, 1tb 7200rpm, storage, windows 10 home
