Is there an fps impact when using the terrain masks?

Thanks REX team. I think it's a fair assessment that a number of us were thinking this new version with season terrain textures was going to end up in the vaporware pile since it was so long ago that the first official mentions of it being in development. Glad to hear and see it will come to fruition! Worth the wait! 

And honestly, speaking for myself only. I would have remained happy if it never happened due to technical reasons etc. Afterall, we all still got exactly what was advertised on the box and anything after that is just a bonus. The product has performed flawlessly since I bought it back in Dec of 2021

Hi jarmstro. I have not seen any fps impact at all with the Terrain Coloring.

Just in time for the fall colors and the desolation of winter in the US. Perhaps I'll do some more flying up in the northeast this fall.

One note - I did join the Discord but I didn't see any previews, just a live event. I've got a lot of Discord memberships with lots of pings and live events, so I'm probably never going to make it to one. Would have been nice to see a few previews posted but I didn't find any.

Great news, I switched to REX from Bijan earlier this year and having the seasonal terrain masking will be great as we head into northern winter “soon” (side note, summer is almost over 😭)

Hi Rick. Good to talk to you again. There is no advantage to having Weather Force and AccuSeason Advanced together, but I will say that Weather Force is a great app and can be judged on its own merits. I have heard many people really like it. Hope that helps.

Hi pmb (Michael). Just heard back from Reed and he stated there was not a way to record the events we had yesterday. Will this terrain masking show a grid pattern on a map display, such as on an MFD?  This was an issue that Bijan was unable to solve, so wondering if Rex figured a way around it.

Hi Gilandred. Unfortunately when you click the V key to view the VFR map, you will see a block pattern. Wish that were not the case, but that is related to how the visual rendering works in the MSFS codebase. Thanks for your question.

Discord is for developers who understand the "new way of doing business in gaming". 

There is a reason why many "legacy developers" are not on Discord. 

I think part of the problem is organizations trying to use it for things it was never intended to be used for.  Discord's devs have added new features to try and make those activities easier but it's obviously led to confusion.  Its original purpose was basically Ventrilo/Teamspeak with text chat channels.  Users have managed to try and make their discord servers do so much more.  It's the perfect thing for gaming clans/guilds for example though.  You have great sounding voice chat for group game nights, and text channels to store strategies in or just socialize in when not in voice chat.  The problem is when companies try to use it for something like tech support.  It's really just not designed for something like that.

 

edit:  the issues someone mentioned about not being able to post any messages is many large public discord servers require you to go to a specific "rules" channel and read and react to the rules with a specific emoji reaction, or post in a specific channel, and possible use some specific reactions on posts in order to unlock roles that allow you to chat in the main channels.  This prevents spam bots etc from showing up and just spewing out junk.
