Isn't that partly explained by a desire for the flight crew to retain their vision after the nuclear flash?
The V-Force airframes were initially painted white for a reason.

I think purely coincidental, eye protection is as simple as lowering a visor

always amazed at how poor the view was, you  cant see any part of the aircraft from the cockpit.

Yes that's correct, always reminded me of being in a Submarine, and the only way you could check if anything was behind you was with a kind of periscope contraption.

Before I go to Support with this, anyone getting a "License Failure" on the tablet? I've moved it from the default install to another drive and using add on linker, so wondering if that's causing an issue 🤔 (and yes I have legally bought the product)

Edit: sorted, it was because I renamed the folder, reverted to default and all good

It was alright, I suppose. I saved £7:25 using my Clubcard, and there was an "Any Three for £7:50" deal on freezer meals.

Every little helps !

Enjoy the Vulcan.

The crew wore an eye patch over one eye and would remove it after the flash.

I went on to work with several ex-Vulcan Aircrew during my career and their stories were plentiful.

Perhaps it's my monitor but the Anti Flash paintwork isn't as white as I recall but thankyou Just Flight for bringing back memories.

It flies so well!

I have some Vulcan pics, Is there a way to add pics here direct from my PC or do they have to be from a URL?

You'll need to upload them to an image uploader I believe. Something like https://imgur.com/ or similar.

Are you kidding? The Valiant is/was gorgeous.

Actually, I just had a quick Google and I am prepared to admit she's not as ugly as I remember her. My memories are from the Airfix days and probably around 60 years old now. If I thought about the Valiant at all in the interim I wouldn't have pictured it accurately. I didn't remember the Victor-like engine configuration, for example. Almost like a Victor but with the (to me) ugly nose and cockpit "lump" of the Vulcan.

Still, I'll probably end up getting this Vulcan eventually, as I do like to have the planes from my childhood available in the sim, and I'd probably even buy a Valiant if it came along. But I'd snap up a Victor in a heartbeat (and a B-58, B-36, XB-70 to name just a few more)

Are you blind? It's got a bigger and uglier nose than the C-5 Galaxy! 😄

Seriously though, all three V-Force aircraft look / are iconic.

😃

It’s the spring of 1981. We’re eighteen and my m8 Rick has just received his ppl. We’re in Dunkeswell Flying Club’s Rallye. It’s a great little plane with a five point harness and a G meter as the Rallye is ‘semi-aerobatic’.

We’ve been up around the North Devon coast and we’re nearly home approaching the Wellington monument at around four thousand feet. Rick decides to loop it. He puts the stick forward, opens the throttle and the speed builds to a magnificent (for a Rallye!) one hundred and thirty knots. He pulls gently back on the stick and up comes the nose and up we go.

As we approach the top of the loop I look straight up...at the ground…and out of the corner of my eye I catch some movement. I focus on what appears to be a rugby pitch moving at high speed not too far below us. As it crosses the M5 motorway the rugby pitch resolves itself into a Vulcan bomber directly below us at low level,  going like the clappers heading north…

No, the lower rear part of the flight deck isn't modelled, though you do have access via click spots to a couple of 2D panels that are needed to fly the aircraft. Before covid, I went to the flightsim show at RAF Cosford, and talked to one of the Just Flight team about the Vulcan they made for P3D. The subject of the rear crew positions came up, and basically it all boiled down to higher development costs vs. increased sales - the former would not be matched by the latter. This is Just Flight, of course - you can bet your last penny they'd have loved to do the whole thing, but it simply wasn't financially viable for them. This was what I was told about the P3D model anyway, so I assume the same applies for the MSFS one. In case you're wondering, when you look round from the pilot's seat, there is a heavy zipped curtain, which is authentic I believe.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Just Flight have done a fantastic job with this aircraft. It actually reminds me of watching them carryout low level sorties around the Bridlington area in the 70's. You could feel the roar of those engines resonate in your belly as it passed overhead at low level.
