Passenger2 Released

When did they promise GSX? I followed the development and they said it was impossible to sync but they added on a community suggestion to allow the boarding to be sped/slowed at anytime to help sync. This works really well for me. I guess you didn't read the manual again or research enough. You can always ask the devs as I've said above.

Well I followed the development too because I was interested in it at the start but maybe you weren't as informed as you think:

In the video, when asked how Passenger2 compares to FSPassengers, Scott tells us that Passenger2 will ‘be better’, with an emphasis on the user-interface, levels of realism and offer a variety of features. Additionally, the developer mentions that the application will be able to be synchronised with GSX, allowing the application to monitor and reflect the various stages of flight to implement the correctly times services and procedures.

Seems like the developer was just saying things to drum up interest - why confirm something and then say it's "impossible" later?

Forgive me - but are you the same Josh who was posting links to the previews of Passenger2 on the various Discord servers (FSElite / FBW / etc) a while back ... are you on the development team? Sorry, I have to ask because I would say my criticisms are valid as a potential customer and you're coming across as defensive about the application which feels to me you have some sort of affiliation with it? If not, my bad and I apologise for asking.

I was also not aware that this product was an "early access" type deal - they have repeatedly said that all of this features was going to be included, not that it was going to be added later on.. they are charging full price for an unfinished product and even offered a discount for people to pre-order. That is not great. Why release if it is not ready? It is supposed to be better than FSPassengers right now, not in two years time.

Anyway I am out as I don't think my opinion is any less valid than anyone elses even if you disagree with me - I personally don't think it's worth the price in its current state and I feel bad for people who pre-paid for such an unfinished product from an unproven developer regardless of what they promise in the future. It is a lot of money.

Now that’s what I call evidence 😄 ! And backing up your argument.

I am with Josh that it works just fine with GSX. The manual is very straight forward in how the program operates and is working just fine. Most other flightsim addons have regular updates including right after initial release to deal with bugs yet this one is what is getting his blood pressure boiling...

Indeed!
You can disagree with BusBoy55's opinions of the product, but at least he responded with detail and evidence after being called out twice by two newly-created accounts here.

I am going to hold off on this one for a few months and then circle back and see how it has progressed.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

no harm in that. There does need to be more aircraft options and apparently there is a minor bug with PMDG 737 they are trying to fix at the moment.

OMG your so funny. Did you even watch the video? They have misquoted. Don't believe the bad writing on FSElite. Their article also states their information is from the Facebook post and not a press release.

The video clearly says: "Passenger2 will be able to determine the state of flight you're in. It will know when you're taxing. It'll know when you are pushing back. It'll know when you've taken off, when you're in flight, when your're landing etc. so yes, ANNOUNCEMENTS can be synced with your PHASE of flight."

Ii does do exactly that for me what that says so I'm sorry. You point is completely wrong and there is the evidence.

Well it is not just FSElite, MSFSAddons as well:

https://msfsaddons.com/2023/08/05/lead-developer-of-passenger2-answers-key-questions-in-new-video/

In response to compatibility questions, Thompson confirmed that Passenger2 will sync with GSX, the popular add-on that provides ground services for the aircraft. Passenger2 will be aware of the flight’s state, aligning its systems and announcements with various flight phases, such as taxiing, pushing back, take-off, in-flight, and landing.

The part after the bold text should surely be a standard feature requirement - I wouldn't call it a feature of being synced with GSX. It's sort of a given - the aircraft moves, big whoop. Anybody who wants "sync" with GSX means the passenger boarding times surely? I feel that the developer has been a bit dishonest about this... there's no sync at all, yet it's been used as a selling point.

That is also confirmed again on a second article six weeks later, insinuating that the Pushback will be synced with GSX ... it's not, it just detects movement of the aircraft. The fact GSX exists in a users installation is irrelevant because it operates exactly the same even without it.

https://msfsaddons.com/2023/09/20/passenger2-shows-off-boarding-and-pushback-in-its-upcoming-passenger-simulator-for-msfs/

Again, this goes back to my point about the price of this addon. It's been marketed as the best thing since FSPassengers yet it isn't even close and the developer is charging full price for an application that claims to do a lot of things but barely scrapes the functionality barrel of what was available 12 years ago. For $29 I'd want "the full works" - or at least what was insinuated leading up to the product release. Seems like too much to ask these days.

Price is what, double SLC? For what I see as an apple to apple product comparison. Both have issues.

I like the Pdemo; the clock starts immediately without pause. A cold & dark start & prep on a decent plane and the demo times out while taxing. If you automate everything it's naught but a recording to listen to without interaction.
With SLC you have to enter zulu/gmt when making a flight plan? And when I do it rejects it as a bad format? four digits, what else? 2010 z and it gets rejected. I load a simlink flight with the same time in the same format and it works.

But 25 euros/ 32 dollars?...That's a go-around P2.

I looked at both products and went with SLC. SLC just had the GSX update released in the last few days. There needs to be a little polishing but I'm enjoying SLC and am hesitant about Passengers 2 since it is new and untested by the community. Also, passengers 2 seems to go a lot more heavy into the business side of the airline and I was mainly looking for something to increase my immersion. Maybe down the line I will be interested in a deeper experience but for now SLC is covering the bases and their future development goals look interesting.

I'm looking for an upgrade to PACX, and really only would love great cabin and crew announcements, essentially just audio in airline appropriate accents or languages.  PACX was well done as a start but really stunted and repetitive and underdeveloped unfortunately

Luke's Airtool is free and let's you put in any announcements you want. It is possible to only use that feature. Also, the paid extension to A Pilot's Life 2 just adds cabin announcements, and you can change the announcements as you like. However, I found changing them easier in Airtool. I am not sure whether the same is possible in Self-Loading Cargo.

Not sure I understood correctly (because SLC *is* Self-Loading Cargo), but yes, it's easy to change announcements in SLC. However if you make your own pack you'll have to work out a bit with the appropriate folders (e.g. after landing announcment, drink service announcement etc.). There are, however, several packs available for download on Discord, just drop and it works.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Thanks Fiorentoni, I mistyped and wrote SLC instead of Airtool. I have corrected the mistake. Good to know SLC can do that as well.
