I'm just deleting all the Aviators Club liveries from the default aircraft (as I've done with all Asobo/MS aircraft with those) and even just that frees up 3.37GB of space.

Just tried this and saved 8.86 gig of space... only problem was upon restarting the sim it wanted to update the sim  - perhaps due to the missing liveries... so i just put them all back...

Delete them only thru Content Manager or they will keep coming back every startup.

So do you just look in the Official - Onestore folder and look for anything that says "Livery" at the end? Leaving the default aircraft alone?

No, the way to do it, is within the sim:

Go to Content Manager and type in what you're looking to delete. Type 'Aviators' (no apostrophe) to find all of those ones (other than the few I mentioned in my post). Similarly, type the names I gave above (e.g. 'Orbit', 'Pacifica', 'Windows 11' etc) or the name of the aircraft type. When you see a '1' after the name after typing an aircraft type into the search bar, that is one of the 'Livery 1' examples. Work slowly and steadily so as not to accidentally delete the main model/livery. Takes a while but as you see there is a lot of space to save as well as getting rid of liveries you'll never use.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Optionally...

Liveries for add-on aircraft can be deleted by opening each aircraft's cfg file and deleting the relevant entries as well as deleting the associated liveries, textures and models but that requires even more care. I always save each cfg as a copy 'cfg1', then rename the original as 'cfg2' before renaming 'cfg1' as 'cfg'. That way, I have the original saved until I am sure I got it right and then I delete it.

An example (I've removed the info above the section that needs edited, to make the post shorter to read). Imagine in this case that I only want the original and 'Corsair' liveries (I always keep the first livery as it is often the only one with all the default model, texture etc files, and deleting that could be stop the aircraft appearing properly):

I would delete everything shown in bold and (important part), rename '[FLTSIM.2]' as '[FLTSIM.1]' to avoid potential problems. After that, I would delete any model, livery and texture files which are mentioned in the entries I deleted but which are not also in the entries I'm keeping.

So you can see why this needs doing very carefully! Just do one aircraft at a time and test it works ok afterwards, at least until you are very confident in what you're doing. Oh, and each time an aircraft is updated, you'll have to delete the files again! If no new liveries have been added, you can usually get away with keeping the cfg you created but sometimes you'll need to go through the whole process from scratch.

Snow / ice coverage seems moderately less insane now, but still way overdone and often in no way plausible. Maybe from ‘insane’ to ‘wildly innacurate’ levels.

I do hope they don’t consider this issue now fixed, because it’s….not.

Keep me/us updated and I'll do likewise. If the same crops up with default it would point to an underlying issue rather than Pyreegue's needing an update.

Tested again tonight. Definitely an issue when arriving into EGPH and it is consistent. It's fine when starting off there though. Glasgow is unaffected. All with default scenery.

Odd. Just took a flight from EGYV Portmoak, over Loch Leven and into EGPH (Live Time and Weather, so pitch black) and everything looked fine.

So after a few flight with SU14 I'll add to my previous comments that I've found DX12 noticeable better than DX11. Preciously I've always came to the opposite conclusion. This is a subjective observation but what else matters? I came to this conclusion flying over Manhattan with MSFS settings essentially maxed out with 10900K at 5.2 and 3090 in the A2A Cherokee using trackIR5 at 24hz on a 55" Samsung 4k TV with Frame interpolation enabled for 48fps on screen. The difference was obvious. Also I was using the latest Nvidia Driver. Conclusion: DX12 is now better than DX11 IMO. Previously I would have said the opposite.

Not subjective. The dlss.dll file (not the actual name) was updated with su14. This provided significant improvements in dx12, including VR.

The file that was updated with SU14 was the nvngx_dlssg.dll, not the nvngx_dlss.dll. The dlss is still version 2.4.12.0. And the one that got updated (nvngx_dlssg.dll) only matters for people using FG.

Incident report by MS/Asobo on the recent download issues with SU13 and SU14: https://www.flightsimulator.com/sim-update-13-and-14-deployment-post-incident-report/

Basically Azure cloud technical/setup issues and bugs (around Azure SAS tokens, etc)... A detailed and transparent accounting of what happened, great to see. It wasn't about MSFS being de-prioritized or the various other theories floating around here. Hope they do more of these for any future incidents, at least in part to quell the conspiracy theories that inevitably spring up and spread.
