December 9, 20232 yr Could not have been an easier update for me. Updated with no issues and had two great flights today with no crash to desktops. I will say, I did not really notice anything different with the sky color but overall no issues!

Funnily enough having not uninstalled/reinstalled this Sim at all (from memory) I'm doing just that right now, maybe it'll clear up some junk files from past updates or something, maybe maybe not. Either way it'll be interesting to see if that helps regain lost FPS/performance or not, other games in the past improved with a fresh reinstall. Just wrapping everything up with the new install lets see, it took me 16 hours total from scratch all the way to installing every DLC out of content manager. Either the installation download speeds have crippled, or I've totally forgotten just how long it takes to download and install 140 GB of vanilla MSFS. Restoring my Community folder mods now (517GB) and I should be set to experience SU14 for the first time. With this whole SU14 installation ordeal, I went to check my assistance settings and to my surprise they weren't reset out of all things that went haywire.🤣 Edited December 9, 20232 yr by blueshark747 Asus Maximus X Hero Z370/ Windows 10 MSI Gaming X 1080Ti (2100 mhz OC Watercooled) 8700k (4.7ghz OC Watercooled) 32GB DDR4 3000 Ram 500GB SAMSUNG 860 EVO SERIES SSD M.2

My (unintentional) full re-installaton took in the region of 18 hours (I was asleep when it finished, so don't know the exact time) and was running at a consistent 33 mbs, at least while I was monitoring it. My broadband is 38 mbs so I was getting the best out of it, as bad as it seemed at the time. It really seems to vary wildly between users. December 9, 20232 yr I'm finished, finally, man that was a drag. *NEVER* doing that again and what with MSFS2024 next year I won't need too anyway, MS if you're listening sort your download servers out, they are an utter joke in this day & age. It's certainly on Asobo's end.. this whole install felt like 56k Modem speed. @MarcG This is seriously something I'm not doing again as well, as much as I love the idea of a "full world streaming globe of flight sim". Just looking at all the package sizes on the base installs then DLC installs like woah, this is all just for one freaking piece of software and it's pretty absurd. A couple questions. Did you install from store/xbox apps? were you forced to install to an “xbox games” folder? Did the install keep looping backwards in progress? Thanks!

Does steam let you choose your own location and folder name? Steam has its own issues with MSFS lately, the verify file/restore function will pretty much nuke important folders somehow and confuses the MSFS server into thinking you need to install everything over again. While Steam does let you choose locations and folder name, the MSFS installer itself within the sim has its own way it wants your file architecture layed out. There are issues I'm starting to see with Steam and MSFS as well, where there's confusion about "SteamLibraryApp" and Steamapp/common" the MSFS installer will make duplicate copies of Official folder. So overall from my experience there can be potential install issues anytime you want to install MSFS outside of it's traditional common go to path of AppData folder on my C drive using Steam. This is from my personal experience... December 9, 20232 yr Backup and running, same FPS as before reinstall so overall a slight loss on SU13 which is disappointing. I'm reluctant to fiddle settings but may have to lower a couple of things for built up areas 🙄 DX12s bigger FPS loss means that's practically unusable for me in VR, no big loss though.
