Better than people pretending to be mods asking for first and last name.

Yeah, why would you feel the need? That's a whole psychiatric conference in it's own right....

Okay, I'll play. The voices in my head tell me they've made a deal with the rights holders to Bristol Aviation and they're now licensed to make....

For the 60th anniversary of Goldfinger this year, it's going to be a Bristol 170!

There is a Bristol 170 in Goldfinger?

I need to re-watch that, you'd think I'd never miss that.

I stand corrected...it was an ATL 98 (Carvair).

For me, Honor Blackman obscures all other memories of that movie.

Indeed it was.  They were based at SEN (Southend on sea) and took off less than a mile from our back garden.

Back on topic, my office is around 2 miles from that same airport and I get to see from the window (having heard the sound that most certainly doesn't come from an Easyjet A320) one of these a couple of times a week.  2Excel have 2 of them based here.

For obvious reasons to some here, I'd love to see the 727 come to MSFS.spacer.png

Cheers

I totally agree with you Paul, but you should be involved in that project. Loved your FS2004 rendition of that aircraft.

You may be in luck as SWS and FSReborn are collaborating on a 727 (I believe a -200 Advanced but not exactly sure).  You could lend them your expertise on the matter...

A 757 would be amazing. Such a legendary aircraft, still in wide use (at least in America), powerful and a good 80s cockpit with the appropriate mix of steam gauges and Nintendo.

AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S

I'm just not convinced it will be a new aircraft. PMDG is really good at recycling products. I can't even remember the last time they introduced a totally new airplane. To me, it seems their business model is redoing planes they've already done for a each new platform. It would blow my mind if they came out said they were doing a 727, or a Falcon, or any other totally new plane. But, I'm almost confident enough to put money on it that it won't be a plane they haven't done before. PMDG's innovating days are behind them.

I think people need to cut them some slack regarding "recycling" planes. They sure aren't bringing many, if any, new features to their planes these days. But the fact they are doing the same planes mostly I think owes to the changes in platforms and new ones coming out.

No one anticipated MSFS when it was announced, and given how much of a departure it is from the stagnant days of P3D or even FSX they would be foolish from a business POV not to bring their addons that are selling like hot cakes over to the new platform, even if people see it as recycling. The same goes for P3D going 64 bit or even FSX to P3D. There was just never a world in which they would leave something as popular in both type and addon as a 737, 777 or 747 behind and not bring them into MSFS (or P3D). The high demand for the 737 and now the 777 and more than likely the 747 shows people want these in MSFS despite saying PMDG is only recycling. I think there would be a lot if disappointment and criticism if they abandoned, say, the 777.

If MSFS hadn't happened and we would still be on P3D, there wouldn't be much, if anything, to do on the existing planes and I'm sure we would be seeing new aircraft types from PMDG already. When all their addons are stable in MSFS I'm sure there will be new types too, and they've already said there will be. So I think the "recycling" is owed to the quickly changing environment rather than unwillingness to do a new aircraft.

I'd hate to be the one to "de-rail" the topic...although it is all purely speculative...

Having just moved to MSFS in the last 2 months, I have again bought the DC-6 and the 737. Personal opinion: the DC-6 is always enjoyable to fly...the 737, to be honest, is kind of a let down in MSFS (for me). Yes, it is a beautiful aircraft with a lot of bells and whistles...the "clunky" navigation behavior is a throwback to the FSX days...and a code rebuild would be my most welcome addition to MSFS from PMDG.

Realistically they've got the 777 family, the 747 family and 737 MAX on their plate and now apparently added another secret aircraft to the list. We're gonna wait a loooong time before there's even a chance they might do a serious code rebuild of the LNAV. Personally I've written it off as "never gonna happen" and just keep enjoying the well made rest of it.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
