Gents, please don't just give up. Post on Aivlasoft's forum and make Urs aware of how much this program means to you.

All it requires is for funding of the server to continue. The more encouragement he's given the more likely he'll find a solution.

Remember when Navigraph tried to move us all from FMS Data to Charts a few years ago. They relented because many of you complained. Okay, we're not complaining to Urs but making him aware how much we value this program.

Ouch, @Bobsk8 , did you know this already...?!

This always is a big fear of mine: one of your favorite addons being dropped... More and more (of not all) addons require some sort of online activity nowadays and this means there may always come a day that you can't use the software anymore. Scary stuff.

This is also what I hate about software that requires some type of server to be able to use it. Users pay for software but can no longer use it or install it if the company decides to go out of business.

I'm keeping tabs on the forum but if the server's only purpose is license checking then might as-well just remove that check from the code. Let's see what solution if any, that Urs can fomulate

We don't know that. It might serve other purposes. If it was just licence validation I'm sure Urs would have considered removing that section of code from the executable.

I have wondered how non subscriber companies afford to keep their servers running and updated. I worry about Hi Fi or Active Sky. Lets hope their recent product for MSFS keeps them profitable.

No, not yet they haven’t. Okay you can’t buy EFB any longer but the program remains useable until the server is turned off on 31/12/2024.

But Urs is investigating whether hosting can be taken up by another body. If you cherish this program I would urge you to write on their forum and plead for the server to continue to run.

Time to give it up. The amount of users that use it, which is likely not very many hence they are closing, will not justify the bandwidth costs of keeping it going on a server. The program is highly likely not giving a ROI to keep the server running. Moving to another host does not change that. Time for you all to move on.

You’re entitled to your opinion but I fundamentally disagree with it. No one knows how well it’s sold.

The reasons cited are economic. Making a freeware version is not difficult and from what I can gather the server is only used for licence validation. With the forum going no overheads are involved but existing users would still be able use it. I’m guessing you’re not one of them.

Oh, Oh , bad news, no doubt.

Poor @Bobsk8, it's going to affect him a lot.

There are so many features in EFB, that I don't believe you have in any other app.

I see that you just closed the subject in Flight Planning???

That subject was posted yesterday …. well before this one and the one in the MSFS subforum.
