June 2, 20242 yr Currently enroute from ESGG to ESSA, and at least around ESGG, Bing (latest) is clearly worse than MSFS default with tons of clouds baked into the textures and huge colour variations all over. Makes me wonder why asobo have not incorporated the latest data into the SIM yet ? I think it'll be used for MSFS 2024 and then also made available for 2020 later maybe? Per the last Q&A in April (and before) MS/Asobo have said they're both looking to keep updating to use the latest Bing data as well as feed back improvement to Bing due to MSFS (such as the work around water masks fixup, etc). For example these specific answers: On use of latest of Bing data excerpt: "So we just this week got 200 terabytes of new data from Bing. which is what we’re going to launch Flight Sim 2024 with as far as aerials is concerned. Are they newer? Oh yeah, a lot of it. I think in total, this whole thing is 2.2 petabytes and we have 230 or something terabyte that are brand new since we did the last World Update essentially." Several tiles with different colors I saw too when flying over the Netherlands. At this moment I am in my flight from Amsterdam to Rome and there are many clouds so I cannot see how the textures look. But I will do the same flight later this week at clear weather to check. June 2, 20242 yr Just now, GSalden said: It might be that the default tiles are older but have clouds removed … If I am not mistaken, this is exactly the case. At least in regions where WU took place. Just landed in ESSA, around Stockholm, the Bing (latest) looked again faboulous. So it is a mixed bag, as it is for the default textures and Google. No surprise, sometimes default is better, sometimes Bing (latest) is better, sometimes Google. Sadly hard to know in advance unless you fly in a region you already know. Switzerland for example is anyway only acceptable with this tool, as it has huge tile popping issues in default.
