Well a simple solution would be to create one:

1. Right click your desktop, choose new text file
2. Add the text at the bottom of this post to the file
3. Make whatever changes/additions you were going to make to the hosts file
4. Save the file as hosts and remove the .txt from the end of the file, so the file is just named: hosts
5. Then put the file into this folder: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Ah, I was more disappointed by the clouds baked into the textures, did not made that clear enough, sorry.

For me, photogrammetry is not an area that has yet been mastered. This is primarily an MSFS issue, not a Google Map Enhancement issue.

Everything is working on my  system including the map enhancement. I was curious after reading this thread, and looked at my host file. The folder is there, but it contains nothing. Do you know why that is?

Color variations I saw just before landing. All these nice green tiles stopped and desert like tiles appeared:

Looks good to me for 95% of the time with default ground textures. 

I would like to know whether this version of Bing affects night lighting. I just tried myself and city lights are somehow more "intense" (?). I am really not sure though

I had already been through this and created the host file.

What I don't know is what to put here:

So all I have is the file with all notations which start with #.  Nothing for computer to read.

At the places belonging to those 95% that is absolutely true.

But the Rome area was really disappointing (see my earlier screenshots).

However, when approaching the Italian coast it looked so realistic:

Although I gave up on the Google map app long ago, this improved Bing map is a giant improvement over default MSFS.

After installing, I jumped into the default Cub to fly the WU6 Tyrol (Switzerland and Austria alps, the home of lederhosen and yodeling).  It's just amazing now. ICAO start with LS and LO.

I agree that MSFS should make this an option. I'm not sure how the scenery looks so much higher res in the distance (LOD) and yet it costs almost nothing in fps.

Meanwhile over on the official MS Forum, the administrators have switchblades out for hints of Google instead of Bing.

" However, we do not recommend using any streamed map data add-on to replace Bing maps. Talk about the mod is prohibited in the server, and will be removed. "

That's all you should need. The issue is the mod needs to be able to find that file so it can put in the redirect for the map host you have chosen.
