New MSFS 2024 Trailer - Release date: 11/19/2024

After living through (and continuing to live through) the never-ending beta that is MS 2020 I am going to take a wait and see on this one. I hope they can deliver this time, but they will need to show me this time around.

  • I'm really tired of this argument. You don't want missions? Fine, just do your thing as you used to. No one calls DCS an arcade platform even though it has plenty of missions, so why say that about MS

I'm pretty.sure that the new sim will negate the need for utility addons which xboxers can't deal with anyway.  That's just fine by me.

Also excited for the career mode which if done well may gain the support of a large group of simmers.

My wish: FSEconomy with steroids. If we can rent/buy others airplanes and also accept jobs from other simmers, it would be great. I like having a persistent world, having to deal with aircraft maintenance and all. I split my time simming 50/50 between FSEconomy and some more complex airliner flight.

Gotta love some of these comments., 2024 hasn't even launched yet, and the moaning has started.

2024 isn't taking anything away, it's adding onto it.

...and you know that for a fact do you? I'll answer that for you, no you don't.

The correct phrase would've been "it's probably unlikely 2024 is taking anything away, but it will certainly be adding onto the existing platform"

Well, it's up to you to believe or not on ASOBO/MS. They've said no features are being removed, they are building upon MSFS 2020. Also there's no sign 2024 will be a dumbed down version.

I know it's about semantics, but we are just having an informal conversation here.

Pretty bizarre that there has been no communication from the devs except for this trailer. Hoping to see some concrete info on what's cooking behind the visual goodness this fsexpo.

They've said a lot of things in 4 years, not all of it has come to fruition but anyway my point is no one here knows anything about the product from top to bottom, so to say something blank outright as that above is simply wishful thinking at this stage of development.

Lead Developers and their Marketing teams essentially say what they want you to hear remember, they're selling a product to you.

100% agreed, they've failed here and there, but I don't think they would turn the sim into an arcade and just lie about it. I mean, they are just saying the opposite, they are commited to the simulation aspects. I'd say they are commited to that after 4 years of development, as examples: they hired working title and have partenered with inibuilds to include their aircrafts to the default fleet. For 2024 we already know they are bringing more 3rd party aircrafts to the default fleet. Don't believe everything, of course, but it's not like they are not doing some good moves.

That said, I understand what you are saying, but most people here will act defensive because some others imply some absurd stuff, with no evidence to show. It's not like we are acting as MS/Asobo PRs, we are just sharing the official point of view and official statements, against some disinformation sometimes spreaded in here (I mean all the Arcadey talk, or Subscription model etc).

Yeah the "arcadey" chat is simply there to be ignored, you can call any Simulation "arcade" the moment you turn off Damage and turn on Taxiway Arrows! Been over and seen that nonsense debate in racing Sims for decades now.

Personally though I've lived through enough pre released games & simulations hype to know full well to practically ignore the developers and just see what it's like on release, I can easily count on one hand the number of Lead Developers I trust and Jorg Neumann is not in that list. That's not to say I disbelieve everything he says, of course not, but I've watched enough Q&As now to know he doesn't always follow up what he says.

Anyway this is going off track, apologies.

Maybe we will get another youtube video like this guy posted about a year ago. Many here think just like this?

Lets nip this in the bud also. Literally nobody in this thread has accused Asobo of lying. As Marc has said, its just healthy skepticism and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that given the experience over the last 4 years.
