Can someone take a shot of this location from 2020 so we can compare the LOD distances?

  • I am absolutely hoping for this.. imagine a flight sim where you could hop in and out of any vehicle without having to go to the main menu.. you could fly a heli, land on a field explore the world, th

  • I'm really tired of this argument. You don't want missions? Fine, just do your thing as you used to. No one calls DCS an arcade platform even though it has plenty of missions, so why say that about MS

My gosh... people need to take a breath and relax.  People forget MSFS was all but dead after FSX.  Remember Flight?  There was never a guarantee that there was ever going to be another MSFS, let alone one that would be this big.

MSFS expanding to a larger audience is a win for everyone.  More casuals doesn't mean that MSFS is "arcade".  Just because some kid on a console can buzz around in an F18, it doesn't mean you can't land a realistic 3rd party aircraft with realistic systems.

More interest in the sim means more 3rd parties coming in to give us more of what we want.  It isn't "casuals vs hardcore" but everyone winning.

Totally agree.

I've just got back into simming after a hiatus of 9 years. Trying to run 20 mods in FSX meant 20 fps and CTD's, I'd just discovered the slightly updated Steam version when my PC died, so I moved on to other hobbies. In 2015, Flight had failed and I thought PC gaming and flight simming especially were doomed.

As my last sim was FSX, 2020 is an amazing leap in technology and great value for money "out-of-the-box" (it replaced a shelf full of FSX DVD's which cost £ hundreds...)

If 2024 makes more profit by drawing a wider audience, then that will benefit everyone.

Does the trailer look good? Yes. But so did the 2020 trailer. The issue isn't vision or commitment. It is execution. For almost 4 years we've dealt with new updates that regularly break existing features or don't fix what they were supposed to fix. Eventually they do get fixed, in most cases, but the process is frustrating at times. Even today we still have issues installing updates. At least some do, some of the time. I like the direction MSFS is headed, and they have created an amazing sim. They deserve credit for that. It is a groundbreaking product. But the road has not been easy, and I see a very similar road for MSFS 2024. All of these new features are going to take a lot of time (and updates) to flush out.

Goodbye social life, this looks absolutely insane. Also an excuse finally to ditch the 16yr old gaming PC and upgrade to a monster rig.

This puts the entire thread into perspective! It was all about XP and P3D before MSFS2020. And now a more advanced flight simulator pushing the envelope with enhanced graphics and careers in MSFS2024! The Bruce Artwick legacy continues as the creator of the first consumer flight simulator software.

It could be a cutscene. Or only at a few „bespoke“ airports or missions. Or restricted to jetways. Who knows. If it is GSX-style, then yes. The animations are clearly superior.

They did mention passengers as one of the improvements coming to the core sim at the last FSExpo and in the FAQ. Aside from that, the airport scene in the trailer is absolutely dense with airport clutter and they have said the airports in 2024 will be the most complete ones on the market.

Ah, ok, gotta re-watch it in that case. We‘ll see. I certainly wouldn’t mind. I love GSX and I never fly without it, but the animations are a bit dated I have to say.

And we're allowed to think your concerns sound silly, based on the information we currently have.

Why would you quote me in such a way to leave out the part where I said precisely what you just did?

I think I'm still allowed to have concerns. At least I hope so. They may turn out to be unfounded. I hope so. No one else has to have the same concerns or believe they are valid. I also realize that my 'concern' could be something that others wish for. So be it. Things will turn out how they turn out regardless.

Because many people here don’t read the posts, they just look for a thread to seagull down into and throw snark and shame regardless if deserved or not. Mostly not.
