Hear! Hear!  My sentiments exactly.

$85 I’m gonna pass that a lot of money.

Absolutely agree! It comes with a steeper learning curve than other airliners, requires a much more hands-on approach, and is quite a temperamental aircraft. Which is why I like it so much. By now I've done ILS, visual, RNAV, and VOR approaches in various parts of the world, including high-altitude operations in the Andes.

I got it a few days after getting the 777 and it's hard not to compare the two. Is it better? I would say that the 777 is nearly flawless and just works. Sadly the MD-11 has its issues - but like many have mentioned, none of these are showstoppers. I prefer to fly the MD-11, as it is more unique and challenging. I like both though. A lot.

I bought the 777 at release of course, but I'm really waiting for the freighter. I agree with you, I am going to keep flying the mighty-dog 🙂

I am certainly not put off by the naysayers on this thread that keep raining drama and disillusionment on this very complex but character filled aircraft.   It's not perfect. No one is saying it is. But the issues are not show stopping either and some of the 'issues' on their Discord are user generated or even a function of the character of the real aircraft especially as to landing.

It seems to me that what you're miscontruing as raining drama and disillusionment is simply a result of different priorities for different people. What is and isn't a showstopper is completely subjective. If you don't put as much value in accurate systems and flight modeling and aren't bothered by the issues others are raising, that's fine. But there are some of us who like to go deep into these areas and in that case, the aircraft isn't all that satisfying right now. And that's fine, too.

I'll be blunt here: For me, personally, there are showstoppers right now. LSAS isn't doing what it's supposed to do. It kicks in under the wrong conditions and makes the aircraft more pitch sensitive when it's supposed to alleviate exactly that. Turning it off makes the aircraft easier to fly when in reality, it's the opposite. There are also issues with the engines losing N1 targets and then overcorrecting or getting stuck at high N1 settings making it hard to slow the aircraft, and what appears to be excessive drag at high flap settings causing abnormally high N1 settings. It's also my opinion that these aren't your usual post-release issues that are fixed a week later, but that they appear to require quite some work and time because they seem to be relatively deep-rooted. Again, if you don't mind this, fair enough. But others do and there's nothing wrong with that.

Besides, other $70-ish aircraft have virtually no issues like these. So holding TFDi to that same standard that comes with the price they're asking is completely reasonable.

This, in my opinion, is the biggest issue right now.

Had a couple of successful flights. So far, so good. Great performance too. Does anyone know if it's safe to move it from Community to another drive where all my aircraft are and use Addon Linker?

I've been doing that since day one without issue. I'd say go for it if that's how you typically organize your addon aircraft.

I will give it a shot. Worst comes to worst, I can move it back. My only question is if their janky Install Manager will see the current version and see if there are updates pending. Not really the best install manager out there, but that's minor gripes. 🙂

I have not purchased yet, but that is what I would do. I use Addons Linker for all my Purchased Aircraft, except for the FENIX A320 (does not play well when O/S of MSFS) & I leave all my PMDG Aircraft in the Community folder (only for Updating with PMDG Ops Ctr.), because that is where the Operations Centre looks for the Aircraft when updating.

I know my PMDG stuff lives in an off-drive spot. Ops Center is able to detect it there and update accordingly with Addons Linker. The only things I left in Community is Fenix and MadDogs by Leonardo. I wish those vendors offered an option of where to install stuff... I move JustFlight's stuff there too, it works with Addon Linker.

I installed the Fenix into the community folder and then just moved it to my preferred location. I never had an issue. First time I'm hearing it doesn't play well, but again, I'm not noticing anything being out of whack.

Same here. When updating an aircraft I just activate it in add-on linker as if I am going to fly it and then run the updater/s.

OK. One more question... when using Charts for taxiing on the Airport Info chart, it doesn't seem that the current aircraft position is displayed the way it's done by say... PMDG Boeings. Am I missing something or is that not implemented? Really doesn't help when there is a complex taxi route.

What specific N1 settings are you seeing with high flap settings?

you mentioned something about it diving deep into the systems. Are you saying that when one starts to fiddle with a given system in manual mode, the logic of said system falls apart? In other words, the systems only go as deep as what one would see on the displays or the overhead panel lights and what not?  Make sense?

I don’t the jet yet and I’m very curious to hear you go into a bit more detail on your opinion. I haven’t been able to find a good review yet.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

N1 was as high as around 85 % at one point and others have even reported 90 % at landing flaps. Obviously, the MD-11 has higher N1 settings at landing config than your average 737, but N1 at or above takeoff N1 seems too much. Not sure if this is due to excessive flap drag or the engine simulation. I've also had that happen once early in the approach somewhere downwind-ish where the engines wouldn't spool back and I couldn't slow down.

Deep diving into the systems for me means using the addon to learn the systems of the aircraft type and generally paying more attention to the numbers shown vs. what would be expected on the real thing after studying some of that etc. So strange N1 settings and the LSAS problems are disappointing at this time. It's otherwise a nice aircraft but it appears unfinished when it comes to systems. I think the system depth TFDi are aiming for is pretty deep, but again, it doesn't seem there yet to me considering LSAS seems to have been engineered kind of upside down and N1 likes to fluctuate a lot at times hunting the target and get "stuck" every now and then.

Other systems seem fine and deeply modelled, but other than the more obvious problems like engines and LSAS I don't know enough about the MD-11 to say if there are more problems. Someone mentioned wrong FMA indications on an ILS in this thread, for example.

That's odd, the Ops Centre does not show me updates unless the aircraft resides in the Community folder. I have Addons Linker on D:\ drive while MSFS is on C:\.
