I agree with the exterior textures, they’re not good. I do think however that none of the current issues are showstoppers. I’m having a lot more fun with this aircraft than the 777, doing cargo ops in remote, high-altitude areas. Just did another flight in the Peruvian Andes including another RNAV approach. Apparently a fix will be out within the next week or two.

Interestingly, the most outspoken people in this thread seems to be those who don’t have the aircraft. I’d like to hear more from people that have it. But it seems the price and the current issues have perhaps stopped people who are interested in it from buying.

You're hearing from people who don't yet have the aircraft because they want to see a few issues (that are showstoppers for them) fixed. That should be ok as long as their issues or concerns  listed are factual right ? They probably want to know if its possibly going to get fixed down the road or feedback regarding system or feature fidelity. I personally want to buy this product. but i want the fit and finish to be on the same level of quality as products of similar price points.

I follow the thread to see how far along progress is being made before i decide to jump in. Comments from @SAS443 and @threexgreen for me counts as valuable feedback.

Excellent Points! And yes as I said earlier, having a lot of fun with it.

I too am having a blast with the MD-11.  Flying it right now as a matter of fact, as opposed to my T7 😎

For those who expect Weather radar. Based on discord conversation TFDi position is similar to PMDG year ago - they consider WX radar as useless because it's not authentic enough.LOL Well old story repeats again. Now that is the shame !

For those who have the issue where your PFD begins to lag followed by crazy autopilot behavior, Collin has created a post on the official dev forums for MSFS. I'm hopeful the team at Asobo will help TFDI locate this issue with simconnect (If that's what it ultimately is). This will also benefit PMDG since their 737 also has a similar issue, but not as serious since the AP is not affected. https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/simconnect-data-read-rate-suddenly-intermittently-drops/9586

100% agree. These days for 80 dollars you better deliver an aircraft on a 777 or Maddog level, systems and flight dynamics need to be spot on.

$80 million for a Level D sim doesn’t get you spot on systems or flight dynamics.

It’s pretty word not allowed good, and it’ll only get better, just like their 717 did.

I dont think anyone is expecting that.

But this plane has been many years is the making, went the controversial "pre-sale" route. Already a year ago they did preview/hype videos of the LSAS in particular.

And to still get it wrong in release client is baffling. Surely they must've been aware of it. I noticed it in my first flight.

For me, the release just seems rushed. Unpolished.

Items such as autoland FMA ("LOC/ DUAL LAND" in green) is displayed when flying ILS with just the flight director active is also evidence of an unpolished area.

Do I still fly it, absolutely. I enjoy it. But the current state of the MD11 does absolutely not warrant its hefty price tag.

Which begs the question if we should purchase an addon based on current quality or potential quality. Because the Md11 right now has a wide gap between the two. Much wider than any high profile release for MSFS.

They were.

Some bugs are in there since the beginning, people who had access to the plane all the time (the 1000 "Collector's Edition" customers) were asking to delay the release, especially after one staff member dropped the info that the PW engines won't be ready for release (which was only communicated a few days prior to release. Early buyers / testers can still use this engine variant, but it's not complete regarding EPR simulation etc.)

The conversation was quickly shut down, and TFDi said something like "It's their problem to deal with the reactions of the community". Which is true of course, but the warnings from the testers was not "hateful" or something like that, people wanted only the best for the developer and wished for a decent simulation of their favorite aircraft to be released in a stable state - and feared some kind of negative backlash from the community.

LSAS / pitch-problems is something that has been around for quite a while. To be fair, the difference between the first release of the aircraft to the customers (which was more like a pre-alpha, heavy in-development state) and todays version is huge, they have come quite far. They put many hours of work into it, but in my opinion they should have shown a little bit more patience and release the plane a few months later, maybe do some kind of christmas release.

The argument of TFDi was, that there will be never a perfect state of the aircraft, as there are always bugs and they have to commit to this release. One can only speculate whey they chose this date, I won't.

In my opinion, for the price they're asking, a little bit more polishing would have been great. Also I think it was a little bit "unfair" towards the testers, because customers could get the impression QA wasn't doing a good job with some kind of obvious issues still in the release version. But everything was reported for quite a while and they still released it.

Anyway, I hope they will continue improving the plane quickly, it has the potential to become a very good addon. But imho, in it's current state it's too expensive.

I’m still having a problem with ATS. Just attempted a VOR approach (aircraft does seem to track the radial correctly) and ATS commanded around 90% thrust even though I had set speed to around 180 and flaps 15 (IIRC).

On several occasions thrust is set very high, thus the aircraft does not slow down on approach. Could very well be user error, but has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I wonder if the speed dropped too low and you entered a protection throttle mode, forcing high thrust?

Could be, i had this once..

If this happens how you get out of this protection throttle mode ?

I tried somehow but didn't get it back out of that mode .

So short conversation with TFDi regarding WX radar gives me a very bad impression. Basically in their opinion developers know better and they wouldn't listen to every simmer (like myself I guess)! According to them current WX radar is a joke and waste of ND space. I believe even most advanced add on aircraft in MSFS are still mixed bag of limitations and compromises. WX radar like many other things is limited as well, but at the same time very desirable asset for majority of simmers. Even PMDG understood it! WX radar still immersive asset even with limited  2D weather!

Now here where I have huge problem! If TFDi was freeware product than I agree developers get to decide  how their work gotta fit. Then I understand their aspirations and visions and  shared with me for free, and so I take it  as is. However, commercial product - customers do matter! They don't give me a favor by selling something and than tell me shut up we decide what is good for you. This is straight red flag in my book. If I was aware of that kind attitude I would never invested a penny. So here I'm regretting investing in it 😞  Hope it give someone piece of mind!
