Last night I said that she’s grounded for now. But don’t want to give up on her yet, so I’ll do another flight whilst making sure I do absolutely everything in the correct order.

Btw, how do you use time acceleration? The PMDG 777 has options in the EFB, but when flying the MD-11?

I recommend this tool. It's very useful for controlling the sim rate and much better than using keyboard or joystick commands.

Just straight into the tfdidesign-aircraft-md11 Folder?

I just purchased the MD-11, and was wondering if there is an options manager. I see only the installation manager, but is that all there is?

Cheers, Pete

What's the performance tax like with this one?

You can set options in the EFB, this than gets saved in the work folder ( Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\packages\tfdidesign-aircraft-md11\work\ )

First flight today ( KSFO-KJFK 4,5h ) and it was a beautiful flight, at least for a first public release, some small bugs but nothing to worry to much and i assume this will fixed with upcoming updates.

The plane did what i told the AP, ILS/LOC captured beautiful and the landing was just fine and with this Add On another of my favorite aircraft has found its way into MSFS and I have to say it's getting better and better; now all that's missing is the DC-10 and I'm more than satisfied !!!

cheers 😉

Thanks, I just realized that! So, everything is setup from within the simulator I gather.

I haven’t seen one, Pete. I believe options are accessible solely through the EFB. There are quite a few options in there actually 👍.

I couldn't get airborne with that commentary from V1 and gave up. I think he needs a few patches himself. He talks too fast and then too slow. He accuses the MD-11 of being all over the place yet that's exactly how he comes across. Honestly, RSR is a much better communicator!

This was all in the first 25 mins and in my view had completely discredited himself as an impartial reviewer. We get it V1. You don't like the MD-11!! Perhaps you could ask for a refund?

Now I'm not ignoring the fact that the TFDi MD-11 is not as polished as the B777. That's a fact and TFDi are putting out patches which reflect that.  And we do need reviewers to point out the issues even if they dont always accord with what we have seen. But V1's reviews basically read like the boss had called TFDi into his office and was tearing strips and there was no right of reply.

I don't know what V1's motive was for lambasting the airplane at the rate he did in that short time including offering his opinion that it was only Beta level but, it was an appalling 25 mins I saw. So before anybody starts grounding their MD-11 or decides not to purchase, just take a wider view. There are plenty of more supportive and balanced streams out there and one bad review from a pent up reviewer shouldn't be show stopper. The MD-11 was a very complex and sometimes difficult to manage airplane in real life so streamers, who are IRL pilots would be cautious if not rated on type when discussing handling and maneuvering characteristics.

Sir, you can't just come in here and start throwing around wildly reasonable perspective - we just WON'T have it!!!

We need drama, Indignation, and, verily, OUTRAGE!!! And by gawd, we aim to have it!!!

...

Many thanks for that balanced viewpoint. 🙂

I never understand folks like V1 who buy v1.0.0.0 software and expect it to be utterly flawless the first week after release. Especially when that software happens to model something as complex as an interactive simulacrum of one of the most complex machines ever cobbled together by humankind.

Anyone who is surprised that a brand new addon of an airliner BRAND that hasn't been in the sim before has a bunch of bugs is naive in the extreme.

E.g., a HUGE part of the reason that PMDG's 777 came out in such a finished state is simply because they've had literally years of MSFS Boeing experience with their 737, not to mention the previous 15 - 20 years of Boeing & 777 work in FSX & P3D.

...

The problem is that we have become accustomed to being taken for stupid consumers without any consequences.

Honestly I feel like this pitch sensitive bug is being exacerbated by some specific joysticks/yokes or even specific configurations of these hardware, making it a much bigger problem than it should be.

I have already did 8 flights with the MD-11 and in none of them have I felt the aircraft pitching abruptly on landing with a subtle movement of my joystick (Logitech 3D Pro). Yes, I felt that it's more sensitive compared to other airliners, but it's far from something so severe that it's almost impossible to land manually.

The problem is that the MD-11 is pitch sensitive in real life, so it will be difficult for devs to get genuine feedback from people who understand the MD-11 versus from people who have no ideia and think the MD-11 should behave exactly like a 777.

But anyway, I'm not denying there is a problem with pitch sensitivity. There is and this has already been acknowledged by the devs. Hopefully the next update can at least improve that.

I did just that, and had a perfect flight. Adjusted sensitivities, so pitch is quite a bit better. The aircraft respected all altitude constraints both on SID and STAR. Flew the whole flight in “managed” mode (NAV + PROF) ending in an ILS approach. Landing was not too tricky even with a fairly strong x-wind. Vref seems a bit low though, easy for speed to fall into the yellow range.
