July 5, 20241 yr Well, I've had enough of this thing. I've found that I'm unable to enjoy this aircraft because of an inconsistent bug with simconnect. The only response I can seem to get is that it's a simconnect issue that has been brought up to Asobo and there isn't much TFDI can do about it. I seem to be able to reproduce it into SDF almost every time, but this bug is a show stopper for me. It always seems to have on the arrival/departure of an airport, never during cruise. The PFD and other screens will begin to go nuts with what looks like 2 fps. The AP will then oscillate up and down until you either disconnect and manually fly or it crashes. Manually flying other than straight and level is a challenge because you can't follow your gauges. What's the most frustrating is there doesn't seem to be much help other than, it is what it is until Asobo fixes it. Not sure how more folks are not seeing this.... and yeah, I'm word not allowed. Spent $80 on a plane to be told there is no troubleshooting or anything I can do to fix it. Just hope and pray Asobo fixes it. https://streamable.com/qe7pe0 Edited July 5, 20241 yr by Keirtt Gaming rig Intel i9 13900k - NZXT Kraken Z73 cooler - ASUS Maximus Hero Z790 64GB Trident Z 6400MHz DDR5 - Gigabyte 4090 GAMING OC 24G 10 x 120mm Lian Li UNI fans - Lian Li OD11XL Case - Corsair HX1500i PSU

July 5, 20241 yr Is anyone else seeing significant auto-thrust throttle hunting? I've got oscillations of 13% N1 every 10s or so in cruise trying to maintain Mach 0.79 with fairly steady headwind. It's my first flight and may have configured something incorrectly, but I did follow the tutorials posted here. -C Ryzen 7 5800X3D, EVGA RTX3080 FTW3 Ultra, 64GB DDR4 @3600MHz MSFS, XP11, XP12, DCS, IL-2, Falcon BMS, LMNOP

Distracting but not a showstopper as my now three full automated long hauls will attest. -B

July 6, 20241 yr Did my first flight tonight, overall despite having not "flown" an MD-11 since the PMDG version (FSX, maybe early P3D?), I was able to remember how to get it up and running, FMC programmed etc. Lots of "oh yeah" moments with the MD quirks. Flight was nice and enjoyable overall, pitch definitely seems overly sensitive though, especially when coming in to land. For some reason my usual FSUIPC axis settings wouldn't work for reverse thrust (I use a range on the axis since my throttle quadrant has a detent). Overall quite nice and I'm happy to be flying a three holer again! July 6, 20241 yr Moderator I finally bit the bullet, and now I don't even know how to install the additional liveries 😟! I'm getting old. I9-13900K, RTX 4090, DR5-6000MHZ, CORSAIR ICUE H150I ELITE, ASUS PRIME Z790-P, THERMALTAKE TOUGHPOWER GF3 1350W, WIN 11
July 6, 20241 yr Liveries are installed by copying the livery folder in the zips that you download into your community folder. I’m certainly no expert, but after 3 or 4 flights, my impression has gone from “generally, I like it”, to “meh”. 777: “wow”… and “I’m liking this more and more!”. Hard to put my finger on a specific thing and it could very well be user error. I do feel however that although it’s a quirky and temperamental aircraft - surely it can’t be that quirky. I’ll add more details later, but for now she’s grounded. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
July 6, 20241 yr I saw someone in a Twitch chat saying the real thing was twitchy, tempermental etc, and TFDi have captured that. Well, in my uneducated opinion, I don't think the MSFS (or any other) engine would really be sophisticated enough to capture very specific aerodynamic quirks that differentiate an MD11 from other airliners the way it's being implied, though I accept it's perfectly possible to design in differences between airliners in handling etc. Also, the claim is sometimes made - well, what would you know if you haven't flown a real aircraft of the type? But, we are all humans who are aware of weight, inertia and how big heavy things move around our earth, we've all seen and been passengers in aircraft for many many years, so we can rely on our instincts and form valid opinions on realism without being type rated. I do plan to buy this if the quirks are ironed out though, it's so much more interesting than yet another Boeing or Airbus.
July 6, 20241 yr I couldn't get airborne with that commentary from V1 and gave up. I think he needs a few patches himself. He talks too fast and then too slow. He accuses the MD-11 of being all over the place yet that's exactly how he comes across. Honestly, RSR is a much better communicator! So I didn't watch all of it but he seems to be hung up on an impression that this is really just a P3D plane. He said some textures were a mess..more like P3D. He never showed us an example but then went on to show us the overhead panel textures which he praised. I lost interest in him about that time but not before he turned himself in circles over which way the mouse wheel should roll to select a switch. He said we should expect more for an $80 airplane when you compare the PMDG 777 at $7.00 cheaper. Of course he ignored the fact that he had previously admitted he had bought both the pax and the freight version where as the PMDG price is for only one aircraft. He then blamed the TFDi MD-11 for not being able to log into Navigraph on the EFB, when he admitted he had done it before. We have all seen plenty of streamers with their charts on the MD-11 EFB so this was most definitely his problem. But hey. He was on a role to discredit the TFDi MD-11 so why stop there. He concluded even before finishing the FMC input that this airplane was a just a Beta...oh a very good Beta he added. He clearly seemed to have an idealogical bent against this aircraft and admitted he had never liked the IRL MD-11 which he termed the MD-111. So its seems like it was just trying to justify his long held view. This was all in the first 25 mins and in my view had completely discredited himself as an impartial reviewer. We get it V1. You don't like the MD-11!! Perhaps you could ask for a refund? I couldn't watch the next 3.00hrs of this claptrap. You couldn't see his chat but whenever someone supported his view you heard about it. So, it doesn't surprise me that he found fault with the flight model and probably many other things but on the basis on what I saw, in my view that has no credibility. Now I'm not ignoring the fact that the TFDi MD-11 is not as polished as the B777. That's a fact and TFDi are putting out patches which reflect that. And we do need reviewers to point out the issues even if they dont always accord with what we have seen. But V1's reviews basically read like the boss had called TFDi into his office and was tearing strips and there was no right of reply. I don't know what V1's motive was for lambasting the airplane at the rate he did in that short time including offering his opinion that it was only Beta level but, it was an appalling 25 mins I saw. So before anybody starts grounding their MD-11 or decides not to purchase, just take a wider view. There are plenty of more supportive and balanced streams out there and one bad review from a pent up reviewer shouldn't be show stopper. The MD-11 was a very complex and sometimes difficult to manage airplane in real life so streamers, who are IRL pilots would be cautious if not rated on type when discussing handling and maneuvering characteristics. Disclaimer: I have no idea id V1 is an IRL pilot or not but, assume he is. Cheers Terry Edited July 6, 20241 yr by Lord Farringdon No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.
