July 4, 20241 yr I was hesitant to buy this plane because of my previous experience with TDFI and their B717 in P3d. Always a WIP, much functionality promised but not all delivered. Anyway, it was a me thing. Maybe you loved it in P3d but me not so much. Regardless, with this stated after watching a livestream or two I bought the MD-11 on release day and I better take what I gets, right? Well I’ll take it then!!! I just finished a 4+30 cargo haul, KSFO to KJFK and the flight and systems were nominal and as expected from takeoff to ILS landing 22L KJFK. LNAV/VNAV worked. Simbrief import worked with all altitudes and speeds and TOD was well placed and led to an uneventful landing. Not at all what I was expecting, especially with a day 1 release of a crowd sourced plane. If you’re inclined to buy this plane for use I will say caveat emptor, but you’ll get no worse than you get from 97% of the planes for sale currently and you very well may be pleasantly surprised and well pleased. I know I am. Great job TDFI. You’ve earned it! -B Edited July 4, 20241 yr by btacon

Sim rate 4x maximum. 3 hours ago, Fiorentoni said: And fuel burn was accordingly? Not like the A300 which on 4x still burns fuel like it was on 1x… Yes. A bug that was precisely the fuel burn not following the sim rate was fixed before release. Edited July 5, 20241 yr by edu2703
July 5, 20241 yr Autopilot issue and I cannot figure it out. Everything thing is arms on the runway (magenta) Advance throttles press autoflight the servos advance the throttles fine. Rotate climb out gear up and THEN I Press Autoflight again and the AP disconnects? What am I missing? The first flights worked fine using the british av geek youtube and now cannot. Any ideas? Not sure if I remember correctly it’s been forever since I’ve flown the md11 or the 717, but from what I recall the auto flight button should be pressed only once when airborne? Don’t quote me on it!
July 5, 20241 yr It says to press 2 times on the ground. But how do you reset it if you mke a mistake. Makes not sense. Chris Chiozza
July 5, 20241 yr Go to his site. He has at least 3 more. All seemingly well done. And FREE to boot! THANK YOU MOOSESTAFFA!!! -B
July 5, 20241 yr Some of us are still struggling in manual flight. So here is my hot take: I set pitch axis per recommendation from a user in their Discord (-54 sensitive, reactivity to 50% etc). It made things somewhat better. However, after 10 circuits around ESSA with LSAS both ON and OFF, my subjective conclusion is that the airplane was much easier to manage with LSAS OFF. Also, because LSAS is struggling to stabilise the airplane in pitch (which is its purpose) the ATS is hunting airspeed which further destabilizes the whole approach. My best patterns were with manual thrust and LSAS OFF. Ironically, this is probably the most difficult way to fly the real bird I assume. But it highlights a concern of mine in the TFDI MD11, where automation is failing to serve its purpose. Right now it is fighting my pitch inputs, not making it more stable (like cancelling any indication of PIO's, instead it is augmenting it) For v1 release it is a fine addon. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy it alot, but manual flight is not one of those areas. EASA PPL SEPL + NQ / CB-IR in progress MSFS24 | X-Plane 12
