I'm very sceptical that this will lead to a an actual correct systems depth. That's like eating 100 pots of Spaghetti Bolognese in order to "guess" the recipe.

Just on a sidenote: A German TV channel (Vox) actually presents a cooking show where exactly that is done. A meal is presented to a chef and he (or she) has to recreate it by just tasting and looking at it. Often they manage to get really close to the original ingredients and taste.

Really interrested by this one. Seems awesome!

The lack of *true* navigraph support keeps me away from buying their aircraft add-ons. If the A350 still has the same limitations as their current offerings, I will most probably forego this one, too.

If anyone wonders what the limitations are: https://forum.navigraph.com/t/missing-nav-data-in-latest-airac/15310/4

I also hope they make use of 3D scanning techniques for the modeling, as the top guys in the airliner bizz (Fenix, PMDG) seem to be doing lately. I think it makes a huge difference. The (admittedly early) previews of the A350 nose section gave me the shudders.

I hope they pull this one off. Not sure anybody else will even try to tackle an A350. I sure wish them success.

@IniSteve @iniBuilds have you all considered the comments directly from Navigraph posted in the link above? Compelling evidence that your stance of using stock navigation just does not cut it.

Hmmmm seems that won't be an issue in 2024 but it would be nice if they could make the other option available in the meantime.

What makes you believe that? I'm genuinely interested. Maybe I missed some news regarding MSFS 2024.

cheers,

They're completely revamping flight planning for the new sim. It will have a robust planner akin to simbrief, along with LIDO chart support by default. So they might have to rely more on real world info. Additionally, I think this will impact how smart the ATC has to be so there are probably massive improvements there too.

Oh my, this explains why I had no procedures for KRNO. I thought it was odd. They renumbered the runways last year I think.

Yeah, this all remains to be seen. I guess you could build a much more capable planner and charts around the dataset in it's current form. AFAIK, the main problem lies in the way ASOBO chose to distribute procedures (SIDs and STARs). They come 'baked in' with the scenery! If the scenery dev does not include them or they become old because of magnetic variation (renumbered runways), you don't have the procedures available in all add-ons that don't use external navdata. You read that a lot in forums, including the inibuilds forum, which I also regularly visit to keep up with their developments. They know about the limitations.

As long as the procedures don't move to the sim's own dataset in MSFS 2024, we will still need external navdata to avoid this problem. I haven't read anything that suggests this is 100% the case. The fact, add-ons are said to be backward compatible between MSFS 2020 and 2024, leads me to believe the dataset as such might not change a lot.

I sure hope MS/ASOBO can bring full functionality without the need of Navigraph and the like. There is literally no other dev that has gotten more money from me over the years than Navigraph with their subscription.

cheers,
NiIs U.

You're not considering the LIDO charts though. I don't think Asobo will want to go through the trouble of constantly getting custom charts that will conform the sim's unique set up. Better to fix what is broken with the sim then allow proper AIRAC injections.

In the case of third part aircraft, most of them rely on simbrief injections and I'm sure Asobo/WT would be able to adjust their fleet accordingly. They promise compatibility but it is pretty obvious that as it stands, default planes would not be able to just work perfectly with what they're going to introduce in 2024.

Rest assured. We have heard the community's words quite loudly regarding challenges with past performance across all our product lines.

We are actively working to refine performance as well as take full advantage of tools in the native sdk to keep things light and efficient. We also have a team 90+ deep of testers with all manner of PC configs, so don't think we write for i9 KF chips and 4090's exclusively. 😉
As someone earlier said. The proof will be in the pudding, and this should taste great!

shut up and take my money!

Please add GSX Pro integration like with the Fenix A320. That would be icing on the cake!

Not having Navigraph support makes this plane completely useless no matter how good it looks.

Stunning, but I am worried about performance, especially at complex airports. Maybe we can get a "lite" version or, like they do with their sceneries, an option to remove objects for better performance.

The A350 shouldn't have some of the same nav issues that ini A320V2 has when it comes to Navdata.

Some A320 V2 issues are related to the WASM API, and ini were forced to use WASM on the Neo because it's a default aircraft.

For example some approaches into NZCH appear fine on the Javascript API, but won't appear on the WASM API. The ATR has the same problem because it uses WASM.

It won't solve all issues though, as they're still using the in sim API instead of external data. It does load the navigraph data from the community folder if you do have it installed.
