August 18, 20241 yr I just hope they don’t limit the new information to their Q&As. I want the discovery videos, I want the Development Update blogs back (bringing new info about the 2024) and maybe exclusive info for the insiders. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
August 18, 20241 yr What I want to know is if they have resolved the terrain issues that can be found in MSFS 2020. By this, I mean those "land bars" across some estuaries and river mouths, examples of DEM data loading very late (a classic example is the island of Tsougkriaki on the final approach to runway 01 at LGSK Skiathos), and the low resolution vector data in areas like Greenland. August 19, 20241 yr I'm expecting some news and tidbits about MSFS 2024 during the week since Gamescom is taking place in Cologne and Microsoft has a presence there.
August 19, 20241 yr I feel this is the first small step to a true Second Life World Sim that will come in the distant future. I'm talking multiple activities all within the same world, in real time. Multiplayer where you are in your bush plane buzzing a train being controlled by your friend and then spotting a truck doing a long haul being driven by another friend. You land, pick up another buddy then helicopter to a yacht being controlled by yet another buddy on its way to Hawaii. In between will be hiking, fishing, RVing you name it. The escapism will be unreal. MS24 is gonna be amazing.

The escapism will be unreal. MS24 is gonna be amazing. I think this is what Microsoft and Jorg are trying to achieve. The main obstacle of this is the detail at ground level, because people expect high level detail at the ground level, like you get in many video games today. MSFS 2024 is getting closer to that at ground level, but it may take MSFS 2028 or MSFS 2032 before MSFS starts to match some leading games at the ground level. But once MSFS gets to a high level of detail at ground level (especially for cities where photogrammetry looks good from 500 feet above but not at the ground level), I think they will be using the digital twin earth of MSFS for so many applications. Like a train simulator, truck simulator, hiking simulator, etc. Imagine a truck simulator where you can drive around the entire USA, and all the locations look accurate to what it is in real life? And there will be non gaming companies that would love to use a digital twin earth for their specific business needs. The uses of a digital twin earth are endless. This is why I think Microsoft will keep pumping money into MSFS, at least they will keep funding the digital earth portion of MSFS. August 19, 20241 yr Sales for MSFS2024 will be interesting seeing as they're continuing support for it's predecessor for so long, if that's what they end up doing (things change of course). Would've thought back porting features and releasing updates for the former title for 4 years would affect sales for the latter, as there'd be a lot of reasons not to buy the new title for many people. Baffles me why they just don't shut up shop on the current Sim and pour everything into the next, strange. As far as I can tell, none! 2024 System specs are the same, better optimisation of CPU Cores, less HD Space initially as more use of the Cloud and then everything else we'll find out about between now and November. Edit: forgot 2020 community mods will be default in 2024 (We Love VFR, GAIST to name two so far) so less need to keep them manually updated over the 2020 version (another reason to move on). LOL He's a bit defensive, I guess, because the developers are always taking the blame on everything and he's the lead developer. Users are also a bit entitled. I think he would be happier if he avoided reading the forums (which he clearly does) a focus on more objective bug reports. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

Those who can't afford the new sim day 1? Or people who are happy with everything they have in 2020. There's still people out there that fly FS2004 because they have everything as they like it.
