MSFS2024 PCGamer interview with Jorg

Featured Replies

These arguments above are the reason only Microsoft can achieve the objective to develop a mainstream simulator. They can and will develop features that please all groups.

And this also the reason Jörg was interviewed by PCGamer and used gaming terms. MSFS franchise needs a constant flow of new users. And “No pilots will be left behind”.

Looks like 2024 will be a world simulator, with the option to fly. There’s probably going to be all sorts of non-aviation related addons. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm wondering what benefit "every" lighthouse brings. Correct ground marking at airports are (IMHO 😄) more important in a flight sim. But that's only me ... Anyone else?

Every lighthouse modelled means something to me. I just wish that they could model every bridge/castle/cathedral/stadium etc

Yeah, Blackshark tried here and there to use AI to spot and place some objects (churchs, windmills etc), but unfortunately they never did that worldwide, they’ve limited to some World Updates (e.g. France, UK and Netherlands).

FWiW, I loathe detailed terminal interiors. But that's only because I spend waaaaay too much time sitting around in them 😂

I do exactly the same - wandering round, looking at furniture and check-in desks when I'm supposed to be flying. The amount of my time this simulator wastes is hilarious.🤣

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I don't think Blackshark has added any new autogen building types since the first Germany/Austria/Switzerland World Update in 2021.

Bob, is it mostly that the posts were off topic, or was it more that it was contentious?  Is there a forum here where contentious discussion is allowed shy of being actively vicious towards others, or that's just flat verboten anywhere on Avsim?  Or, perhaps published guidance on how to engage in a contentious topic in such fashion as to avoid the wrath of Avsim's policy on this?  That's a tough one as some are better than others in disguising insults so as to pretend to be in compliance with the letter of the law if not its intent.

@Noel  There is no place on the AVSIM site for the contentious discussions you are describing.  PM the individual and discuss.
That way is the best idea.....that is until it gets out of hand!  Keep your discussions civil.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Yeah, it's been a while. I hope they improved their techniques for 2024.

Fabulous read! Xbox Games and Asobo Studios pushing the tech dimensions in every direction! Really looking forward to the varied AI generated ground vegetation for VFR flights. We waited a long time to get the emerging technology that blew us away with MSFS2020. Looks like November 19th this year will push flight simulation even further with new realism avenues on the home computer!

The nice thing is that the longer this sim goes on and gets future sequels, presumably the digital twin represented in the sim is only going to get more and more sophisticated too.

Agreed! Pushing forward in various different tech dimensions without compromises in one area vs another is absolutely what we need in a flight sim for the modern age.

So true! Just realized, today August 18th, is exactly the 4 year anniversary date for MSFS2020. I wonder if 2024 will go the pre-order route?
