I believe MSFS2024 has a "pause dinner" option for the serious simmers. 😁

If you have a registered version of FSUIPC, assign a key there to Toggle Pause (or pause toggle). You'll get the same actual pause you can get in Developer Mode.

Either select pause from the drop-down menu or hit 'pause' on your keyboard.

You can also configure it and bind that instruction to whichever button you wish within control settings.  Cheers,

Calum

I use ESC to fully pause and you can bind a keyboard or controller to the active pause in controller settings for that function.

This.  It’s what I use also and find it works best, and I’ve tried all the various permutations.

The default pause is the "active pause." But there is another pause that you can map to that pauses the avionics, I think, and it's much better than the active pause. Buf I don't kmow that this pause will pause the time and weather. Maybe only Esc does that so it would be the best pause.

If you do that for to long with the Aerosoft CRJ, the engines shutdown, FMS resets.. Not sure about other aircraft.

While the game is on pause, are the CPU and GPU still chugging away or do they slow down during the pause?

Was curious about this if the game is paused and minimized and you do something else for a bit.

I've never had that happen to me, although don't have the CRJ. Probably the longest I have left it is 30 minutes or so...

I really don't understand the design choice to not allow a proper pause "pause" i.e. literally pause everything as in previous versions.

Why is it so hard to do?

That's what the Esc key does.

Also, if you want to go into a low power state because you will be away from the flight for a prolonged period you can hit Esc then Load/Save I think it is.  Then, select Save to this PC, or something like that.  DO NOT actually save it!  Return in hours and just hit Cancel, and very quickly you will be able to resume the flight.  Let's your machine cool down a bit.

David makes a good point. What exactly is the point of an "active" pause? What benefits are there when compared to a normal pause?
