SWS PC-12 Update 3 Sept 2024

Featured Replies

I received an email from SimWorks Studios this morning (3 Sept 2024) advising of an update for their PC-12.  I downloaded the whole file again from my account on their site, but when I run the installer as Administrator nothing happens.  I have since downloaded it again, but the installer still does not open.

Their Facebook page has the following;

“After an unexpected delay, we have finally released the update for our PC-12 on SWS and will soon be available on 3rd party vendors. Version 1.3.7 brings a wide range of fixes and improvements to the aircraft. The update will require a full uninstallation of the old version and re-install of the new one.

The engine has been significantly modified, resulting in correct take-off performance and climb rates closer to the POH figures. The ITT now fits non-ISA conditions better. Engine response is faster to throttle changes, and the NG will now stay consistent with altitude.

On the ground handling front we have improved ground turns, improved static friction using the new MSFS parameters and better NWS sensitivity. In the flight modelling front we have fixed the right crabbing when deploying flaps, lightened the nose and improved the yaw damper's response. Vertical Speed hold is now smoother, and many autopilot PIDs have been touched up.

The avionics have also received further optimization and bug fixes. Most notably, the “scoreboard” atop the EADI provides correct annunciations of active and armed modes, which correspond to the indications on the KMC321 autopilot panel, including armed modes. The Decision Height warning logic has been activated, and the KAS-297 now supports the default key binds for changing the vertical speed and altitude.

Finally, some quality-of-life updates have been made, with the most important one being able to toggle between rudder-only and rudder & differential braking for nose-wheel steering, something that has been requested by a lot of users. The “CWS” button has also been exposed for those who want to toggle nose wheel steering by pushing a button, as in the real plane.

A new PDF containing L:vars and key binds for the cockpit interactions is also available and can be found in the installation folder under “Manuals”, or in the “Free Extras” area of the PC-12 product page.”

I’ve un-installed the previous version but still no luck.  I’m keen to hear if anyone else has had similar problems.

  • I'll second this. Back in the hanger it goes. From the beginning I have tried so hard to like this thing and just convince myself it is unique, but at the end of the day it just feels unlike any

  • I haven't touched the SWS PC-12 for a while. I thought its handling during takeoff and landing was totally unacceptable despite the developers saying it was realistic. I do like the aircraft overall.

My installer worked fine by just double-clicking.

Let's you install the aircraft wherever you prefer.

Looking forward to reviews. I got a refund for the first iteration of this one but it does still appeal, if done right.

Hi fellow simmers,

Just downloaded version 1.3.7 and selected TDS GTN compatibility during the install process, but when I launch the PC-12, it does not show my TDS-GTN. What do I need to do to install the TDS GTN?

Uninstall PC-12. Check if in your community folder has any folders name starts with "z-sws-aircraft-pc12". Delete them and install again

I think the sounds and the turboprop simulation are excellent. So I'm wondering if the flight dynamics have been noticeably improved at all.

Same, really excited to give the update a spin. I have a soft spot for the -12 and really tried to enjoy it after launch but finally got fed up with it and haven't flown it in months. Visual model, systems and sounds are fantastic but having some random wacky ground handling and/or insane side slip got old. I just felt like there was no consistency with the way it would behave.

There are some reports of having to start MSFS 3 times following the PC-12 update to get everything working and that was the case for me.

First time it CTD during startup, second time it ran and I loaded the PC-12 but power systems were totally broken but the third time actually worked properly.

Oh and there's ANOTHER update (v1.3.8) released already to address an ITT bug, I'm guessing that'll appear on Contrail tomorrow

Hello gents,

SWS is publishing updates on their store first, presumably to test if the installer is working correctly (before it spreads). Third party stores get it with a slight delay of a couple of hours or a day - so far I haven't received a v1.3.8 installer, but will make sure to publish it as soon as I have it!

Cheers,
Lars

Just to add to my first message; I've downloaded the latest file which is V1.3.8 but when I run the installer, it's still not opening.  The small spinning circle goes around for about 15 seconds then disappears.  Nothing happens after that.  I wondered if Norton antivirus was doing something so I turned it off.  The installer still wouldn't open.

After reading SWS's Facebook message I un-installed the previous version and tried running the installer again, but no luck.  I even re-installed the previous version and it opened straight away.  From all accounts there seems to be a problem with this latest installer, unless someone can come up with a solution for me.

Regards,

Bruce Ross
