Personal experience here. I had the Store version. I moved to Steam and lost the EGPH I had on the MS Store version. My understanding it while the stores are the same, because you buy using your Xbox vs Steam Wallet (or something like this) the store back end is different.

The technical details may be wrong, but when I moved to Steam I lost a handful of purchases.

Yes.

You also have to consider that the percentage, the dev gets for a marketplace sale is less if the user has the sim via steam vs via store. In othe words, if you buy the sim in MS store, every dev gets a higher percentage of your money. So, if you love devs, buy the store version of the sim.

  • Divide this by the amount of hours you spent in MSFS2020 as comparison and tell me, if the per-hour price is still "ouch". I bet even a single beer on a Friday evening is massively more "ouch" when co

  • When I got my PPL in 1978, I used to rent a five year old  C 172 that was on lease back, wet for $29 an hour. Those days are long gone.

  • What's the point of preordering? Is the price going to be different on release day?

Better still buy from the dev direct and avoid marketplace if at all possible!

It comes down to the new aircraft in each version...I want the milsimtech C17 and maybe the Saab 340 (carenado?) But that is £60 extra.

And will deluxe or premium owners continue to get discounts on famous legends?

I am wrestling with the same decision. There are a handful of planes in the premium version I am interested in, but I need to see the modeling and reviews first.

I hope this has not been asked before but is the pre sale price a special one that will increase after the release date? Just trying to weigh up what the benefits are if preordering it now.

Thanks in advance

Awesome, Thank you. So no real benefit other than getting access to the DeHavilland Water bomber right now.

One would have thought that current (or long-term) MSFS2020 users would get some sort of reward for their loyalty - and for basically debugging the sim for 4 years.

Whilst I would love to buy direct from all developers to give them the maximum possible revenue, my purchasing decisions are generally based on who is selling the products that I want for the lowest price. In other words, even though there is still a list of airports that I want in MSFS 2020, I have to be patient, and wait for them to go on sale.

It is a difficult task!!

I think all the free world updates are more than enough.

That's absolute nonsense.  There have been many feature enhancements with numerous world updates and 16 or 17 separate refinement instalments to the sim itself.  We paid less than $100 for the base sim.  What rewards are you expecting.

I'm talking about a voucher/discount for current users when pre-purchasing 2024 - not rewards throughout the lifetime of the sim.

That's a significantly different statement.
