Just took the Cessna around Maui Hawaii.  I sure hope this is just the alpha and not the final product.  Some nice eye candy details but otherwise the island was totally generic.  I think its actually better in FS2020.  I almost certain this can't be the final release candidate.  If it is that is a shame!

Where in the universe has this ever been described as a "final release candidate?"

Have you read what this "technical alpha" was about before signing up?

Possibly a deal breaker with me is the Control Options page in MSFS2024. It ONLY allows saving by each aircraft. It does not provide an option to save a profile for each controller, instead of for each plane.  If there is not a universal save possible for each controller, then 2024 is of almost no use to me. Because there are 95 different default planes in Deluxe Premium. I do not want to take about 95 hours to assign new commands for every controller for all those planes. In other words, I never use the prepopulated profiles that 2020 provided. I change almost every assignment for all buttons and hats.

I think that the fact that each aircraft having its own individual controls is not a bad thing, since are quite different, for example, the controls of a Cessna 172 from an Airbus 330.

Now, I think that you should be able to copy and paste the bindings from one aircraft to another and then adapt them to each plane.

I'm thinking about the number of different aircraft that some flightsimers use (not my case, since I only use three or four different planes).

Greetings

I dragged and dropped in “Community” as for MSFS 2020

Greetings,

How one enter the cockpit with a non prepared aircraft ported over 2024 ? I'm stuck at the walk around without click spot to enter the cockpit.

Thanks

I did not say it was the release candidate and yes I did read it.  That is why I said I hope the release version is not like this.

However, we are 5 weeks away from release!  It does not inspire confidence that the release version is going to magically look much better but I hope it does!

Bugs aside if Maui was like Wowie it would make me confident we are in for a treat. However from what I can see it's FS2020 with some additional lip stick and lots of new annoyances.

ok heres my 2c after playing the alpha for 10min. it looks very similar to 2020. I didnt see all the eye candy like in the previews from MS.  Maybe the servers were hammered and all the textures LOD wasnt loading in but there was no wow factor at all. Im sure it will all come together like 2020 did but dont expect anything major upon release.

Honestly, I don't think they're going to release a product that looks worse than its predecessor, do you? That would be plain silly.

So you're basing your confidence in the simulator on a single spot in the world in a build that has been specifically described as not a release candidate?

The simulator isn't going to "magically" look much better. There's no magic involved, nor anything arcane. It's going to look much better due to technologies that have proven effects and are widely used in the industry (albeit simmers may be unfamiliar with them because other flight simulation developers are stuck in 2015). There are a gazillion of videos out there showing just how good the sim looks.

5 weeks or 5 months from release is irrelevant. This is not a client designed to showcase the simulator, and explicitly so.

As with anything distributed to the public by a company as large as Microsoft, this technical alpha client has likely been ready for weeks if not months, as it had to be certified and tested internally before distribution.

It's a new sim it should have improvements both behind the scenes and scenery detail.  Other than some minor details and the fact that it's now mostly server based it's FS2020 with not much improvement!

It's not just Maui but I have visited several places at random around the world and its looking rough.

I hope I am wrong and those here can carry on preserving their egos with confidence.  However I am very certain minus some locked features not important to the Alfa what we see is what we are going to get!

Asobo is not going to send a trash build out for a wide test with substandard scenery.  That would be poor marketing.  I hope I am wrong but I would be amazed if everything is greatly improved on Nov 19th

Plane silly is what happens al around the world in all sectors at those days so why not with the MSFS 2024 release, i think i will wait some months to see  what happens and let the first updates come over the NEW Sim, and to say i am a HAPPY Camper with MSFS 2020 at these days..

It took 4 years that we have a very stable Sim now and maybe the most stable we had ever so appreciate it !!

cheers 😉

You are certainly testing a different thing from what I and many other press and influencers tested at the preview event, which was extremely impressive, and there are tons of videos out there to prove it.

"Technical" testing is not for marketing. It's for Technical testing. It's right there in the words.

I'm sorry to have to be clear cut, but if you say it's "FS2020 with not much improvement" that simply does not align with what I and many others tested. Not even close.

Not only it did not look like MSFS 2020, but it didn't even fly even remotely like it.

Hence, the only solution (unless we assume that you're being extremely jaded or dishonest, which I don't want to assume) is that what you tested is very different from what press and influencers tested, which was, indeed, for marketing, and hence more representative of what the customer will get.

Of course I appreciate that, MSFS2020 looks great and is a fantastic sim, but your assumption this might not happen with MSFS2024 I find quite pessimistic. Pessimism seems to be the trend here. Cheers back to you 😉

of course it's not. technical alpha is far from release candidate. for those who still doubt it, there's a thread for that:
