  • I would say with a high margin of safety that this is the biggest community achievement in the history of Flight Simulation as a whole, and not even by a small margin.

  • click spot to disable the cabin. I found it helped a bit with VRAM performance

  • So far I am mind blown. It seems to be much better than I've expected. I still need to do a full flight on it, but just playing a bit with the avionics I can see that a lot of effort has been put into

Funny you say that, I have no problems with high quality addons such as the iFly, Fenix, and PMDG.

Well then you're real lucky because what got me to turn detection off was overstressing the Fenix by advancing to TO/GA on takeoff.

Thanks for the patch notes.

So far, I haven't been able to set hundred-altitudes in the autopilot? For instance, setting the autopilot altitude at 5.200 ft. I can only set it, in thousand-increments. Is that not implemented (yet) or is there a clickspot somewhere ? 🙂

Best regards,

My PC handles the A380 fine. Amazing bird.

Same to me, realy no big problems here, did now 4 flights with around 3 to 4 hours and all went pretty well with fine Autolands.

Shure there are some small problems but i'll be shure FBW fix them with the upcoming updates so for me a beautiful AC, thanks FBW Team for this fine release !! 👍

cheers 😉

The bad:

  • Feels a bit too easy to experience PIO on final

The autopilot also is oscillating on final. Hand flying the final feels to light, and it hard to get a stable final.

The bird is just downright gorgeous, but will certainly eat 24GB of VRAM like its nothing.🤣

I'm in the process of watching a 4 hour stream recording on Youtube made by german youtuber CAPT A320 who is a real life pilot as well, in his last 2 years before retirement.

He did have a colleague on they were doing shared cockpit flying and then they had 3 of the developers of the FBW team with them.

It is super interesting. The team is indeed international but predominantely german.

And they cleared something up about licensing and the ideas that sending them more money will help things to progress  faster: The entire open licensing under which they operate legally prohibits any forays into payware. They would have to ask each and every programmer who even wrote a single line of code if they were fine with their work being sold.

So they never once considered this to be payware.

And the money we donate goes to their running costs and does nothing in terms of making it possible to hire someone fulltime so that progress would be faster.

It has a very strange VRAM behavior. The plane takes ALL available VRAM. In my case it's 12 GB. More interesting is it takes all video memory right after you select the plane in the menu before it actually spawns at gate. Then if you exit flight to the main menu VRAM is still fully occupied by the plane!

Something is very wrong with the memory management.

Maybe it is worth mentioning this on their Discord (if you didn`t already).

I use a 24GB GPU and the plane uses 19,8GB easely (Cabin = OFF and I reduced Textures to max 4096 already and use 4k Set as well)

They talked about the performance problems a bit and admitted that at this stage of development optimization was not a priority. The main bulk of work before release went into making it stable and being able to perform online flights without problems.

So among the things that are in continous development, performance optimization is definately among the first things that are on the list.

That's interesting I`ll search for that. I hope with my donation they can drink a very well deserved glass of Champagne.

I would post it here, but I don't want to embed a video in a language other than english. They speak german throughout.

I can give you the the name of the video to search for. The FBW devs join around 1 hour 57 Minutes into the video.
