PMDG Oct 31 Update: 777F, 747, etc

The most disconcerting part is the one about unclear cross platform purchases. So they haven't even settled if they want us to pay again for the MSFS24 versions of their fleet or not.

In fairness, it seems that's because it's still unclear how much work might be required to get their fleet into 2024.  I frankly blame MA/Asobo for the fact that this is still an unknown for devs, thi

Hmmm. I'm not sure I buy PMDG's excuse for not delivering the B777F to MSFS 2020. I mean, the knowledge that MSFS 2024 was coming and a rough idea of when, suggested the 777F was always going to be ne

Meh. The bar is very high after the 777v2; the 747-100 will need to be amazingly feature rich to capture any of my interest.

Genuinely curious, what features ar you requiring for the -100 in order for it to capture your interest. There seems to be none of this type made for a long time so I personally wouldn’t be able to judge the aircraft compared to anything else. What should I be looking for in the old 747 to make sure I’m getting my monies worth.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

In fairness, it seems that's because it's still unclear how much work might be required to get their fleet into 2024.  I frankly blame MA/Asobo for the fact that this is still an unknown for devs, this late in the game.  But as for PMDG (or any dev), how can you know whether you should commit to providing something for free when you don't yet know if it'll take one hour of work, or hundreds?  I know I don't work for free, and I don't expect anyone else to either.

Yeah but when I consider what they pay me per hour to sip coffee and watch the clouds go by in cruise, I feel like it averages out 😁.

It's just that in recent years I gradually have lost faith in PMDG playing fair in that game and not simply exploit their monopoly on high fidelity Boeing Airliners.

Considering how much of the 777 was reworked and reused I found the price about 20$ to high.

The last thing I would want them is to ask us for another 30$ per variant just to update their fleet for MSFS24.

Fully agree with this.  It seemed like it was going to be a straight forward, easy port over for all of our addons but now it's much more uncertain.

Unpopular opinion but I don't get some these post as some people seem to not have a problem buying a new game/simulator but have concerns about 3rd party charging a small feed (if the addon needs some rework) for an update if need to be. If I had that concern I would probably just stick with MSFS 2020 and fly your favorite aircraft in that sim.

I wonder more about simmers who expect developers to work for nothing.

Huge missed opp not making a new 787.... I don't know who they're catering to with the 747-100? Just looking at how popular the A380 is....

Maybe they wanted to make the 747-100? Is that not enough?

Does it occur to you that some of us (myself included) like steam gauges airplanes - eventually - 😊 much more than magenta lines on a screen?

With the stress on "some".

The market for these is small.

And in this case I question any developer who chooses to model an airframe that required 3 people to operate.

Let's face it the 787 would have been a better choice.

I can nearly guarantee you, PMDG will charge at least something for their updated 2024 planes and they will likely be one of a very few, if only, to do so. I’ve been buying their products since Fly!2, but they just continue to disappoint me. We’ve got freeware developers out here, absolutely smoking them, and most of what we’re getting are long winded nothing burger posts where there first two paragraphs say the same exact thing.

who are the freeware developers "smoking" PMDG??
