November 12, 20241 yr It's all well and good, but new sim isn't that exciting. Most titles won't be working day 1, so I can't get excited for it. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
November 12, 20241 yr I'll attempt a download when it becomes available. Once it's on my PC I'll spend some time exploring and setting things up. No need or urge to remove 2020. If 2024 is as good as I hope I suspect I'll be mainly using that as I test out my current addons as and when it occurs to me (as in - "I wonder if this aircraft/that scenery works and what it looks like"). If some addon doesn't work in 2024 it won't cause me any sleepless nights, I'm sure I'll find lots of other stuff to grab my attention. Very much looking forward to it! Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

(more multi threaded, more code offloaded to GPU for massive parallel computing of CFD etc. (GPU computing)): unprecedented 98% GPU load even on my RTX 4090 I actually got a new system for 2024... because all the things you mention only help if you have the CPU cores, RAM capacity, and GPU power to make use of it. In my case, a 4 core CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1070 GPU were in no position to handle what 2024 was going to throw at it.. Bert

November 13, 20241 yr One thing about FS2024 if the Alpha build in any indication is a really quick install. I never timed it but between starting the install to first flight was about 20 minutes. Not all night like FS2020 typically is! Hopefully installing FS2024 does not bomb FS2020 like the Alpha build did for some. It sure messed mine up and ultimately had to reinstall FS2020. I don't think it will repeat since it was likely some sort of licensing logic bomb with the Alpha build that messed up FS2020! In theory, FS4024 has such a small footprint you will never really need to bother uninstalling FS2020 unless storage already maxed out. I suppose the issue will be maintaining 2 community folders. Those can get rather large if you have a lot if payware and other files installed!

I would fix MSFS 2020. In reality, 2024 will be not that great for the first 6-12 month Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. November 13, 20241 yr What's the advantage of Preording it? I'll just buy it when it becomes available.

November 13, 20241 yr I've already pre-ordered so I'll be in the new sim Day 2. It would be day 1 except I'll be travelling for work on release day unfortunately! 🙃 I'm most looking forward to checking out my home city to see how it looks in the new sim and flying the new C-17 and A400. November 13, 20241 yr Since I waited to buy MSFS 2020 until 2 Years after release, I'm in no hurry to buy MS2024. Not to sound pessimistic, but I'm sure there will be lots of bugs and things that doesn't work properly, it's been that way with previous versions, so why should MS2024 be any different. So let's see after a year or so if they have managed to work out the different bugs, and until then MSFS 2020 will do just fine for me. Jorn Lundtoft I don't always stop and look at airplanes.........Oh wait, Yes I do. November 13, 20241 yr Is there anyone out there planning to put up their Xmas tree on Monday night or am I the only one !
November 13, 20241 yr I'm sure there'll be an initial period where I'm waiting for add-ons to be migrated to 2024, but I still plan to jump in on release day and explore all of the new stuff while I wait for the third party scene to get up to speed.
