November 12, 20241 yr I really wonder how soon users will be posting something like this " wondering if ( insert add-on here) will be FS2024 compatible by " Christmas" LOL 🙂 I think it really depends what the state of the sim is upon release. If bugs are minor and the sim is in a good working state, most devs will probably get on it right away. If not , many will probably wait until SU1 ( which could be early next year at the earliest) to release compatibility updates.
November 12, 20241 yr If the Alpha build is anything to go by the foot print on your PC will be very small with FS2024. If this is the case both sims will remain on my system for now! At first FS2024 will primarily be used for testing and demonstration purposes and I will fly the default aircraft on routes that will test how worthy the new sim actually is. I have some random places around the world every new sim gets tested in. As time goes on and the scenery/aircraft I own roll over or made to roll over into FS2024 I will likely use FS2020 less and eventually probably delete it. I imagine this progress will take 2-6 months. Usually the newer sim proves to be so superior to the old sim after flying it for a while you will just no longer even enjoy the old sim. It's already happening since I was in the alpha test. Those random pauses and stutters in FS2020 are really bothering me now that I have had a taste of FS2024. Despite my own criticism of FS2024 (that word not allowed alpha build hopefully) it's very likely once people start using FS2024 it won't be long before FS2020 goes the way of the dodo. Especially since it appears a PC upgrade is not an absolute necessity this time. Smaller footprint and much shorter boot time is icing on the cake. Another annoyance is the 10 minute boot and flight times in FS2020. That is at least half in FS2024.
November 12, 20241 yr Pre-purchased and tried the Alpha, which I later uninstalled... Looking forward to uninstall MSFS 2024 final as soon as I get it installed !!!! It's going to be my first MSFS 2024 uninstall, can't wait to see the "MSFS 2024 was uininstalled" message at the end of the process 🤩 LOVE IT ! That unique taste of uninstalling a highly cloud-based app, makes me feel like an anticyclone clearing up the skies ... November 12, 20241 yr First day purchase for me. I'll be very content flying the default c152, c172 and (hopefully) the carenado Saab 340 until the developers of the better add-ons confirm their products work. Probably may take weeks but that's fine for me. Mario Di Lauro
November 12, 20241 yr Day one purchase, and I'll definitely be jumping in. But with a 4TB main drive, I have no reason to dump 2020. If 2024 is in a good enough state (and I'm pretty easy to please, some bugs/glitches that some consider game-breaking are nothing burgers to me), then there's a chance I won't end up back in 2020 unless I'm itching to take an add-on out that isn't quite ready for 2024 yet.

Day one will be configuring graphic settings and setting up my Thrustmaster TCA stick, throttle and pedals. The default aircraft I'll be diving into PC-12NGX DHC6-Twin Otter Heart Aerospace ES-30 A321XLR A330 A400 B737 MAX8 Cessna 408 SAAB 340B PC24 Testing and figuring them out (as well as the updated Store bought ATR and MU2) will keep me well occupied while scenery developers push out the first compatibility updates. My VATSIM flying from island hops to long hauls will be covered until the usuals aircraft bring their compatibility updates online.
November 12, 20241 yr I will wait a couple of weeks until the dust settles. Eventhough it is tempting to try all the new default aircraft we are getting😁
November 12, 20241 yr Hilarious that they included Kiribati in the list. Great wink and a nod to the community.
November 12, 20241 yr I’ll purchase it day one (this time not from Kiribati) and play with the career mode until the major add-ons are released. November 12, 20241 yr I have pre-purchased it and will install on day 1 to familiarise myself and test things but I expect to still mostly use MSFS2020 until we have a critical mass of scenery and aircraft conversions to 2024 (Fenix, PMDG...). Will be interesting to see how good some of the default offerings are, i.e. the A330.
November 12, 20241 yr My 2020 has been dead for 10 days now and I'm over it but I'm looking forward to next week if more than slightly concerned that just as I can't install MSFS2020 anymore, I may not be able to install 2024 either. 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
