Are there seasons in msfs 2024?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I know there should be seasons but imma bit perplexed. How can there be when every tree is an evergreen? I’m seeing this in the Chicago area. Literally every tree is a pine tree of some sort. Therefore, it doesn’t look like seasons at all.

Ive flown around Texas and I saw one orange tree. But everything else is pine.

I’ve seen some pics from others and they have seasons and different trees.

Anyone else seeing evergreens all around Chicago as the ONLY tree type?

Not Chicago, but yeah, there are a lot of pine trees in the Minneapolis area, and really the significant pine tree presence doesn't start until you get about 50 miles north of the city.

There are a lot of other trees too but if you believe the sim, I live in the middle of the Black Forest. 😄

It's like someone got the idea that if an area gets significant winters, it must be overrun by evergreens.

Yeah...flying around my home area NE USA, it doesn't look like late fall whatsoever.  It's all green still.

Definitely seasons. Many of the trees around a number of aerodromes near my home airfield are in autumn colours.

* And live in the southern hemisphere where summer is in full swing. 😂

It doesn't seem like the videos that we saw of the fall foliage are to be found in the sim. At least in the midwest US.

I wondered how you set the Seasons too.

Only thing I can think of is changing the date in Scenario set up - yet to test.

I'm seeing bare trees in Germany, which is accurate for the time of year.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

It appears that the Midwest US has been mistaken for another biome in regards to trees.

It’s good to hear other areas aren’t under the same fate.

It’s really too bad that this is a problem after hyping it up. Oh well.

Just change the date.

You can even do it while in a flight and watch the seasons change dynamically.

Did you guys use "live" time? I set it up "live" in settings but every time I go fly it switch back and I have to turn it on again

Just fly over a forrest in Europe and change the month in the weather menu. Autumn looks wonderful.

Yes there are seasons but it looks like they come without changing ground shaders.

Those of you who used REX Accuseason or the Bijan Mods, are used to seeing the ground change colour during the year. Right now it is pretty brown and grey in MSFS if you use one of these.

In MSFS24 only the trees seem to change but not the ground colour. It does affect vegetiation only. Crops don't grow in November for example.

Considering that the trees once more are mostly too tall, this seems to indicate that the 3rd Party Market for Seasonal Add-ons like REX Accuseason is not dead. Unless Asobo introduce seasonal shaders and smaller trees themselves.
