Oh, used 2020 today for several flights without any issues.

Excellent, and that has been my point.  Nobody can deny the launch was bad, but there was no doubt it wouldn't take long to fix either.

I'm more worried about this community than I am worried about Asobo listening.

You'd think we'd been personally assaulted and abused reading all the crying about this or that.

(this is not pointed at the OP, as he seems relaxed and quite reasonable. it's just the constant ...the injustice of it all!... stuff is getting tiresome)

Yeah, the moderators are perfectly fine with rude behavior and derailing threads. Whats the point of this site if you have to sift through 30 comments of bad behavior to find the help you need? or provide it?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but a great deal of them are not remotely helpful.

The technology is ready, but providing enough overhead for peak demands is expensive.

Sure, the technology is there and I agree with server costs to service users during ALL demands is going to be high.  But who can afford 10Gbps or 100Gbps into their home?  I have 10Gbps into my home but very rare to be able to do that for most gamers/users, for the LAN side of my network I’m port trunking to get 20Gbps (internal network only).

But, selling a product to customers and then tell them your experience will vary based on demand and how much we want to spend to alleviate that demand.  Not exactly a good way to “sell” a product … we’ll take your money but we can’t guarantee you’ll get what you want.  Sure, it sounds familiar, many companies do this, but when it comes to “games” that philosophy is a very hard sell.

There is a reason the buildings and terrain is not high resolution … data demands and latency requirements.  As I suggested in my earlier post, getting 10Gbps or 100Gbps into everyone’s home and servers able to service is going to be expensive on both sides and no company is going to operate at negative cash flow on a game.

Now it would be nice if we could set the local cache to 1PT and over time the entire globe will be local cache and reduce the dependency on server loads … but as far as I know, MS/Asobo don’t allow such large cache sizes and I don’t really know how they manage the cache.  In MSFS 2020 cache management seemed really poor, it would reload server scenery that it already had and wasn’t changed.  MSFS 2024 seems to be the same from my flights.

Anyway, this gaming/entertainment model for this type of game/sim will never be cost viable to deliver the kind of performance I’d like to see both in terms of visuals and FPS.

I trust you’re not seriously expecting moderators to read every post. Not enough of us and we do have lives to live as well.

Now the reason for me posting this, is it seems that the servers that Asobo is using are the Achilles heel, of how well either 2020 or 2024 run on your PC. You can instantly go from great performance, visuals and FPS, to everything going into the dumpster, if someone throws a switch at the MS Server.  That is unsettling.

Server demand issues has always been the Achilles heel of online streaming, that's why I got a refund the same day, 100% streaming, they didn't learn anything from 2020!

I love the new sim. Plenty of teething problems, but overall a huge step in the right direction. Also like the GUI and the EFB. The visuals are a major step up from MSFS 2020.

I guess if you're a glass half empty kind of guy, then you're not going to enjoy MSFS 2024.

Reading all the complaints, petitions, and "woe is me" threads here and on the official MSFS forums, you'd think Asobo abducted the pope or something.

At this point, after the thousands of videos on YouTube plus the loads of comments here and other places, if you still don’t think there are any improvements, I don’t think anything will convince you.

And that’s ok, not everyone likes everything. There are still some people that prefer P3D or FSX over new sims - and they may have very good reasons for it, I’m not judging. Only saying that no game / sim / whatever will please every single person who tries it.

I’m perfectly serious. There are thousands of MSFs 2024 videos (post launch) on YouTube. Don’t forget all the people posting in their various native languages.

go search and see how many you can count. You think there are what, fewer than a hundred??
